Forums - Nintendo - The 3DS looks like fun (remember fun?)...

It is easy, in the console wars to get hung up on specs, graphics, big names, best game network, and so on...  I just want to comment on what I saw about what the 3DS does.  It looks like FUN to me (same I said for the Wii actually).  I look forward to trying it, but besides the 3D camera aspect, what really has piqued my interest for fun is the AR games.  That looks so cool, and looks like a lot of fun to place.  Same goes with Face Raiders, but I do see the AR games being something new and very interesting.

Well, I am in a want to get camp now with it, due to this.  Just am severely limited now on what I can pick up (pinching pennies badly here).

So, anyone else think it just looks like fun?

Around the Network

I think what your trying to get at is the difference between fun and entertainment.

Let me dive alittle deeper. Entertainment is amusing when your bored you amuse yourself with the latest movie or song. These forms of media dull the boring aspects of your life and keep your brain occupied. Now back in the SNES days I used to have fun with many of my games but now am simply amused. Video games are becoming less and less about the fun and more about the amusement.Let me use an example , everyone has played MetalGearSolid4 if you haven't well then think of another flashy game. It has a great story and great visual's the gameplay is amusing.

The PS3 is my primary goal of an entertianing console. It offers music, movies and games. The games are entertaining at best. They are visual master pieces, you feel almost ashamed to turn the thing off because you get mesmorized by the graphic's and music. However I don't have fun on the PS3, I am entertained, when I'm bored and have nothing better to play I turn on my PS3 pop in a BluRay or video game and play for awhile.

But the 3DS is a console that I will have alot of fun on (Assuming I don't get sick). The idea of 3D is going to do more then entertain me, I will actually play. No I'm not talking move a realistic Hellgast around shooting cinematically in high def at a group of human scum. I mean real fun where I actually want to pick up the device and play different games. I am actually thrilled and anticipating the 3DS release alot.

I can't wait to not just be entertained but have fun. Think of it like this, entertainment is like watching a movie filmed at Universal Studio's, its amazing. But fun is like actually visiting Universal Studio's. I think the 3D will make it feel like rather then watching I high def video with buttons you'll actually be emersed in the enviroment.

I think these days developers are so busy trying to entertain us with beautiful graphics and great music but forgetting to actually give us something truly fun, something unique something with pizzaz. Not the next HD version of Mario or Halo. But something new and adventerous something ground breakingly fun!

** P.S - The above was not meant as flame bate or an attack on the PS3, just stating my opinions about the difference between great entertainment and fun.
