Forums - Sony - What's Sony going to do about Crysis?

The thing is no matter how much people go around talking about "teh power of the PS3" it still doesn't change the fact that pretty much the 360 and PS3 are on an even playing field in terms of graphics.  There's some areas where the PS3 has better hardware and some areas where 360 has the better hardware.  At the end of the day its a trade off and 99% of games are going to look virtually the same on either console.  Not to mention up until recently the 360 hadn't had really much of any optomized exlusive engines, many of the 360 exclusives simply used Unreal.  The few optomized games like Alan Wake and Forza 3 easily stand near the top of the tier in terms of graphics.

At the end of the day no Sony isn't going to force developers to make better graphics to stand out from Crysis and exclusive 360 games because for the most part from a hardware standpoint it isn't necessarily superior.

I don't think Sony forces their developers for anything, they are actually famous for being the opposite, they give a lot of freedom to their devs usually.

Just wait for Uncharted 3, it will be easily the best looking game of this year. And if its not, then expect the God of War team to cook up something that is next year.

The Last Guardian has a chance too, but a slim one.

Infamous 2 has a chance of looking the best sandbox of this gen, I kid you not. Of course, its still not as open as fallout and GTA, but its open world nonetheless.

Crysis 2 looks like shit, btw.

New graphic king in SUB HD??? Bullshit.

I don't know where you get that.  There is very little brown in the game, it's rather bright and vibrant.  I wouldn't call it lumpy either.  It's about as far from looking like a turd as possible.  I can post a picture of poop next to a screenshot of Crysis 2 so you can see how they are not similar but I think it's a waste of time.

You may be referring to the case or the DVD/Blu-ray itself.  I only have the 360 version but I assume they are all similar.  The 360 case is bright green like almost all their games and the DVD has a scene of a city, not poop.  You may need to get your vision checked because it seems you have severe blindness.

this is almost like the Alan Wake fiasco (but fortunately for crysis its much closer to HD, and looks a lot better)

Infamous 2 has a lot of special effects like  explosion and stuff that red dead doesn't have. So the game will lit up like firecrackers :)

And LA Noire doesn't seem to be a sandbox but if it is then I would be so happy that it wouldn't matter.

u rite u rite =p

Not sure Infamous 2 should really be mentioned here, even for a sandbox game. The last couple trailers that looked like they were taken from actual in game footage, while better than the visuals for the original, and better than say and even older sandbox games like GTIV, weren't exactly mindblowing in terms of character models, texture detail, etc. That's not to say that the lighting and special effects won't be special, but comparing any sandbox game in a "best of" graphical contest isn't exactly a fair comparison.

The game itself I'm pretty much expecting to be fantastic though if it's anything like the original. Spent far more hours playing and exploring in that game than average because of the solid game play elements and mechanics.

The graphical bar will most likely be reset by Uncharted 3.

The crazy thing about that is it's not even the technical advancements that I'm looking forward to; it's the prospect of playing through another adventure with rock solid game play and design with a cast of characters that are actually fleshed out and put into a compelling story line that I'm legitimately interested in participating in. The visuals only enhance the story and level of immersion.
