Forums - Nintendo - What the "short battery life" proves for the 3DS

You've obviously never played Pokemon. I'd literally have my Game boy on for like six to eight hours straight during the Yellow and Gold era. I was going through AA's like a chain smoker goes through Marboros.

It's comments like this that make me wonder why this is a big deal. We are getting incredibly lazy. I had a Game Gear for gods sake, and I'm convinced it was a conspiracy by the battery companies how fast it ate them! At least you don't have to keep BUYING new batteries all the time like back in the day (i'm with ya Doobie-wop, Pokemon gold killed my battery budget back then). All we have to do is charge it. Sure I wish it was longer, same with my smartphone, but I'll buy a car charge kit for road trips and it'll be all good.

@NYANKS  i have to respectfully disagree, those old portables are nothing like the new ones, we werent getting full length 3d GTA games, FPSs, 3d shooters, hell we werent even getting arcade perfect fighting games. Now we pretty much have all that and if the battery life suffers, so be it. For me at least i dont even play my consoles for more than 4 hours at a time. so 3-5 for a portable is good for me.

/checks wiki on what a girlfriend is

OF COURSE I HAVE ONE!

win!

If the Nintendo handhelds all got such a large install base by being able to have pick up and go games (not hardcore peel your eyes for 5 hours in a row) then this battery problem should not be the reason why people end up disliking the system.  You will be the minority if you dislike the system for it's battery life on the go (at home you have the cradle).

That being said I was on a new model train yesterday (brand new, put on the rails just a week ago) only currently available on Metro North in NY.  The M-8 it was called.  It had friggin power outlets by like a third of the seats!  friggin insane.  I mention this because capitalism dictates that the market keep up with the demands of the new super-mobile-devices trend going on (ipad/pod/touch/phone etc...).

This train system we have in the US is goverment owned and so without capitalist competition they still felt the need to put all these great consumer ideas into their new train.  This is just food for thought but I'm pretty sure you can garauntee yourself that new model cars, buses, other trains, and even planes may soon be providing very capable and accessible power outlets for use - it's smart on their end to do this.

In a nutshell, battery life may not be as much of an issue in the future let alone that it's not even the priority of a lot of softcore-medium core (heh) users.

You do realise there's more than 3-5 hours in a day, right? I can get in from work, pog out on the PS3 for 4 hours THEN go see her, lol... and besides it's not like we have to see each other EVERY DAY, so that gives me more time for games, lol, I can go anywhere up to 10-12 hours straight on a game depending how good it is, lol.

What you have is not really a girlfriend then. Women don't allow men to enjoy themselves.

Oh snap, really?! o.O

he meant wife. Girlfriends are nice, they even play with you and stuff.

You younglings, always underestimating the Game Boy.

I'm too old for this gaming shit.

I dont really have the a problem with the battery life. People always got on to the PSP's battery life and I have yet to run into any problems with it. THe only time this might be a problem is on long drive for a young kid. But then again you can probably use a adapter and have your parents charge it with the car lighter slot. Or I dunno enjoy some time with them?

Yea people liked to complain with PSP's "issues" but it never seems to be an issue if its from Nintendo lol.  Nintendo copied Sony for having shorter battery life! Then again they both copied Sega Game Gear!! =O
