What disolitude said made me want to try IE9 out but someone else said it only works with Windows 7 so it looks like I won't be able to get it cause i'm stuck with Vista :-/

Actually, it doesn't run on XP, it runs on both Vista and 7.

Well in that case i'll give it a go.

a real benchmark.

It is worth noting that FireFox 4 was designed to go against Chrome 9, not 10.

So IE is the fastest as well as the slowest?

How is that worth noting at all?

I don't know how these benchmarks are important when most of the resutls have milliseconds difference. This is worse than the graphical wars...

because of the v8 benchmark specifically. Back when FF4's engine was locked down so no more enhancements would be allowed it was battling Chrome 9 in v8. It was about 1800 points below at the time. Chrome 10 advanced its engine just like FireFox will with Firefox 5.

ya, the browsers are going to become a battle of features versus performance.

That doesn't make any difference though. Regardless of what FF4 was designed to compete with, if the competition moves ahead, then that's something you have to deal with. Saying that it's designed to compete with an older version of the browser is pretty irrelevant.
