Forums - Nintendo - 3-D Virtual Reality on the Wii! On Video!

In this video, Johnny Lee shows an unexpected possibility in the world of gaming. 3-D immersion Virtual Reality on a Wii! About halfway into the clip you'll see gaming possibilities far beyond anything currently on the market. This immersion would be stellar for FPS and sports titles, and could change gameplay as much as the Wii already has.

Johnny has made placed sensors from a sensing bar on a pair of glasses, and uses a Wiimote to track the player's movements. The player uses a second WiiMote to play. This reversal of sensor/Wiimote lets the Wii track the position of the players head and allow displays to take on a full three dimensional scope, thus turning a flat screen into something more like a 3-D window. Suprisingly, the screen look like objects are actually coming out of it. You can even look behind the objects. Johnny developed a showcase screen for this demo, but only shows targets in this example, not real gameplay. But I promise you'll see the possibilities immediately.
