Anyone thinking glasseless 3d on a 3.5 inch is going to compete with stereoscopic 3D using shutter glasses needs to re-evaluate their priorities.

The guy who write this article needs to check out Metro 2033 on the PC using 3D vision. If he liked Killzone 3, Metro will blow his mind.

ah! 3D man =)

did you get a go at the 3DS or not yet? i'd be interested in your impressions on it.

(I personally thought it worked pretty well, better than I expected)

I've seen similar screens without glasses and I know what to expect. I am patiently waiting for 3DS to come out and will judge it based on previous expectations of this technology application.

I will NOT compare it to a 50 inch 3D plasma playing Killzone 3 like this guy in the article...lol. Thats not really a valid comparison.

@rolstoppable  whoops i missed that whole "examiner" part

@OP

Seeing as you are not a Sony fan at all, I will take your post seriously.

Except for that though, it seems like everyone thinks you are a little mixed up about what you actually complaining about... I think you make a very good point: Gamers will have to switch off the 3D effect for games that use motion control. Monkeyball anyone?

Of course, MGS, RE and Zelda etc won't suffer from this at all.

But still, point taken.

I think the author of the aricle has a valid point. I was also personally disappointed but I will get the 33ds eventually just for the games.

One fault of the 3DS is the small screen. I tried it, and it works. But the sytem makes you focus on this small area which puts more strain on your eyes. If it was around the size of XL, I think the 3D would of worked better. Also Nintendo could of had a higher resolution, but you know those bastards won't do that. Their lazy and I'm starting to get pissed as a fan <_<

Well tbh, I might be really interested with stereoscopic 3D if the glasses are kind of Ray-Ban styled..

Motion controls and glassless 3D is a problem. The screen splits the image in 2, one for each eye. Which means you can only move your head sideways as far as your eyes are apart before you cross the barrier and get the same image with both eyes. You can only rotate the screen (left/right) a tiny bit before you lose 3D. The way to get around it is to rotate your head and the screen on the same axis. It will take some practice to get used to that.

I'm still on the fence about the 3ds, I would like to play oot again and the new super paper mario but the screen is so tiny :/ Maybe I'll wait for the 3dsl, 3dsi, 3dsxl whatever.

A bigger screen is why I'll wait for DSi XL price to drop to consider buying my first portable ever (if we don't count those cheap single-game portables of more than 25 years ago, I had two or three of them, one was with Space Invaders), but I still don't consider 3DS, heaven knows when a XL version will be made and when it will become cheap...

About motion control and 3D not working well together on it, it's quite obvious, if that 3D tech requires a precise positioning of the screen, moving while playing it can't help. Maybe they should make an head gear to keep it in the right position and plug separed hand controllers into it... Eureka! Ninty must upgrade 3DS to Virtual Boy 2! Er, no, better "Virtual Boy 3", PS3, XB360 and Rambo 3 clearly proved that a "3" in the name is needed to succeed...

I think this particular issue is learning curve based.  Once you own the device for a few months you`ll be in the sweet spot for good and will struggle to remmember why it ever caused you problems.
