Well they still sold. It's not the system's fault the genre is in the decline. It's the developers for not making the games as appealing as they were (see, me blaming the developers is not just restricted to the Wii).

Dragon Quest is a good example of not losing the fundamentals, which is why the series is still strong. Also applies to Pokemon and Blizzard's games (the latter aren't JRPGs, but the fundamentals thing can apply to all genres).

I think MS&Sony have enough shooters. I really don't see them being envious of this game.

but seriously, envious is a strong word. sure they would probably take it, but fight for it? i doubt they would work at all to get it, they have enough fps to last them two console cycles.
