Forums - Nintendo - Is Pokémon Black/White The Highlight Of All Pokémon?

It's foreboding of the future of Pokémon.  It may very well be the last 2D Pokémon which makes me very sad but you can't avoid that feeling after playing the game.  It's almost like Gamefreak is waving its dick around with its 3D engine but it's not making a better game.  In fact, crossing large 3D bridges is boring.

Long story short, 3DS Pokémon is going to kill sales.

Black and White, in the grand scheme of things, does quite a few things right but the 3D/Camera related stuff is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.  Also, I'm downed by the EXP scaling as well.

I guess I might be one of the few that sees no problem with the EXP scaling at all, especially since that's not exactly an issue when you want to level up (Audinos) and that also allows you to get more EV's per level, even on the early game, when you don't have access to the Bracers.

I disagree with you there on the 3D bridges, but I guess that boils down to personal preference. The Skyarrow bridge is one of the most amazing places in any DS game so far.

Long run, i wouldn't mind the EXP grinding, but you just *know* that this game is going to make trying to push your team past level 80 or so into an impossibility, even with repeatable Elite Four...

Actually it isn't. I've got my Hydreigon to level 79 quite fast, and with the amount of daily battles, excluding Elite Four, you can get levels quite fast, even when you're past 80.

There's Cynthia, her Garchomp gives 7K exp to my Hydreigon. There's Morimoto. There's Bianca. There's the two stadiums of Nimbasa City. There's the Royal Unova. All with pokes at levels 65 - 77.

That assumption would be right, if the post endgame content was the same as previous pokemon games. But it isn't

yesterday i put in my pearl game to check out my pokemon on there and seeing if had all i wanted and all the legendaries for when i trade them over and decided to play a bit

WOW does playing an older pokemon game make you appreciate how awesome white/black is.

its just the little things too like manuvering in inventory, using a potion and able to click on one pokemon after another rather than it taking you back after each click, and so on.

lestatdark looking at your team makes me exctied to trade my seadra on my pearl game over and make it into a kingdra finaly.  be nice to finally get my 3DS so i can trade iwth myself, lol.  be able to be my leafeon too, woot.  i missed that guy, was a shiny one too.  only shiny i got

Awesome a shiny Leafon :-O

I've had four shinies during all my pokemon time. A shiny Crobat (evolved from a shiny Zubat which a friend of mine gave me, back on Gold/Silver), a shiny Carnivine (caught on SoulSilver) and a shiny Skuntank (evolved from a shiny Stunky captured on Diamond). Recently, I managed to capture a shiny Patrat, which has blue eyes instead of red ones.

Kingdra is amazing. Being a Water/Dragon, annuls the Ice weakness completely, and since it has balanced Base Stats, it has a very versatile playing style.

I forgot to say this in my previous post:

I wish Game Freak got rid of the grid movement system, its so archaeic and out-dated.  If games like ALttP to handle without it back in the 4th gen, I don't see why pokemon can't in 2011

The new scaling EXP system has me downed, as i just spent the better part of an hour getting three Pokemon up a total of four levels between them

Though i can't wait for infinite use TMs, so idk. What really makes me like Pokemon games is the gym leaders, and they already impressed with the first, where they hedged against your starter to force you to get over that problem immediately.

you need to learn the art of Audino training

Once i encounter an Audino, i'll get on that.

It isn't that hard to find one, if you force it.

You just need to run right besides a patch of grass until you see a spot of grass shaking. It may take a couple of seconds or a minute, but it will happen. Make sure that if the shaking grass is far inside the patch of grass, to use a Repel, because if you get into a random fight before getting to the shaking grass, it will dissappear.

I can get over 20 audinos in half an hour using that method. With a Bike it's much, much faster.

I don't doubt that it's easy, but today i'm departing Stration City (i beat Cress last night). I simply haven't had Audino available yet

i saw my first audino in the dreamyard just to the left of Striaton City, you just need to take the time to find them

Could be a worthwhile training method for my Pansage who has Lick and Purrloin who finally picked up Pursuit

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

This is the first time I’ve played a new pokemon game and thought it wasnt the best in the series so far. I still think both Diamond/Pearl and HeartGold/SoulSilver are better than Black/White. This is also the first time I’ve been massively disappointed with the Pokemon designs. A handful are good but the majority are… well abysmal. The biggest improvements in my opinion are the music (which is easily the best to date) and some of the graphical tweaks like animations and extra details on the landscape. But I’m surprised they’ve stuck with the circular platforms during battle (and they’ve actually reduced the detail on the platforms), plus they’ve still not added actual battle backgrounds. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they’re planning on some improvements with the inevitable 3DS version. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad game, it’s actually very good like all the main Pokemon games, but the pokemon designs really do let it down for me. At least we finally have a game without Tentacool, Zubat and Geodude for all the main quest
