Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Delays Products, Cancels Kinect Tour in Japan

Andriasang

Just prior to Friday's earthquake, Microsoft announced plans for a "Kinect Experience Caravan Car Event" that would take the hands-free gaming peripheral on a tour of Japan over spring break. The company issued a statement today confirming that the event has been cancelled due to the quake.

The tour was set to kick off on the 19th in Hiroshima. In subsequent days, it would reach Fukuoka, Chiba, Kyoto and Kobe, but it was not scheduled to go into the north-eastern area of the country, where the earthquake's effects were most pronounced.

One of the big attractions for the event was a special truck that houses two Kinect demo spaces and a number of external monitors. Microsoft says that only nine of these trucks exist in the world.

Yeah, I think it goes without saying. The results of the quake are more painful by the day.

Just one small example of the knock on effect of the Quake/Tsunami/Power issues. I suspect more larger and significant knock on effects to come.
