Forums - Nintendo - Does Steel Diver (3DS) look promising to you?

Not from what I've seen so far, but Miyamoto's been pretty excited about it so we'll see.

I'm looking for it very much, I love strategic games and this looks the closer thing for 3DS this year. Will probably be my first 3DS game.

Wait... Is it strategic? It looked pretty arcady to me.

It's quinte an hybrid, but in some cases it looks very strategic, you can't just go and fire everyone. There's a specific strategic mode in multiplayer for example.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

I'm intrigued by it, but still unsure whether to get it.

If it recieves positive word of mouth close to launch definately. Despite the looks I've never been disappointed by a 1st party nintendo game that recieved above average reviews.

played the original submarine demo for DS and although I love the concept I'm not convinced it can be fleshed out into a full game... granted I thought the same about Nintendog's and that one obviously found an audience...

Does anyone know for sure if this is Miyamoto's new IP or not? there were rumors it was somehow related to swimming, but I was hoping it would be a Wii game...

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Actually there are 3 different multiplayer modes :D

I plan on picking up 4 titles for the 3DS at launch (Super Street Fighter 4, Pilotwings, Samurai Warriors Chronicles, and Steel Diver). The order I listed them is the order of my interest. Really, the only reason I am picking up Steel Diver is to have something to do while I wait for big games I am looking forward to like Zelda and Devil Survivor. No matter how fun Street fighter/pilot wings/ samurai are, I have a feeling that none will last me very long (more of a tekken guy, not much of a fan of pilotwings, love dynasty/samurai warriors, but they get old fast).

I would say get Steel Diver if you are already getting good launch games like Street FIghter and Pilotwings and you really need to pick up something else to keep you occupied while we wait for big titles to come out. I suppose it is all really unecessary as there are a ton of old DS games to play on 3DS right away, but I imagine that most people (myself incuded) want to see the 3d graphics in action.

I think it looks quite good tbh, I think it could be a hidden gem. It's nice to see Nintendo introducing a new IP, especially one that's been under deveolpment since 2004.
