i buy whatever i want, but i'm also sick of forum goers who talk with bias for Nintendo (or sony or MS) and tell me what i should buy. so i'm NOT in , seriously you want us to buy Epic Mickey over Heavy Rain ?

imagine or a moment that HR is not on PS3 and Epic Mickey is a PS3 game, i bet that would make Epic Mickey all the "Ewwwwweewwewew not a Nintendo game" , seriously if you are trying to make people be less biased, you should look at yourself first, and if you are really meant what you said, i bet you'd own a lot of PC games already because most of these games are often given lower scores even thought they're some of the best games around.

No. I was commenting that some basically state the opposite just because metacritic scores are higher for one game. I'm not telling you to buy Epic Mickey over any other game. I'm stating it already outsold HR despite the review scores.

So that second paragraph is faulty, as it's based on a wrong assumption.

And Epic Mickey would still be a better game overall than HR if the systems were switched. Heck if HR was on the Wii, the story would still suck, as I also call on how bad the story on Other M is.

The 7-10 scale isn’t just harmful to the consumer, it also means that companies are sent to die for failing to deliver on an ever-shrinking target for quality.

Reviewers have helped to create a marketplace where “good, not great” and “somewhat above average” are both damning statements that can sink a $30-million project. Then these same journalists turn around and write opinion pieces wondering why we’re flooded with milquetoast risk-adverse Modern Warfare clones.

But because I need to get informed about a game I take the advice of my fellow gamers on this site (for example) and I read user reviewes.

Profesional reviewers have to review a game, so they do without putting any soul into it. Gamers on the other hand either liked the game or hated it enough to comment. Much more informative and fun.

@lordtheknight to be fair every gen has that one or two genres that are real poplular and companies try to emulate, that has little to do with devs and mostly is on the consumers. When Mario 64 came out everyone and their mother was scrambling to get their own 3d mascot thing going

That comment isn't "fair", it's missing the point of that article (which wasn't written by me, in case you thought that). The point is that the hemogeny was bad due to reviews favoring certain types of games, not because of which genre was popular.

^^^ok i see now that makes more sense, but couldnt you say the same for just about any gen???

Not for reviews, more just sales. But even if it was other generations, how would that change anything? Again, this is wrong on principle, not due to the era, genre, or any other double standard factor.
