That's pretty cool! In theory, as long as you can see the AR card using the 3DS camera there's pretty much no limit to the size of AR cards. Time for Nintendo to sponsor the FA Cup, Super Bowl, World Series and Olympics. Imagine a stadium-sized Nintendog or Mario lol
I wonder if this would work if Nintendo sponsored a Premier League football team with an AR card printed on the shirts. Would you see a 3D representation on a telly screen when watching a match..? I'm surprised they haven't sponsored a Premier League side tbh, particularly a side like United. It'd be a licence to print money sponsoring such a well-known worldwide brand. They reckon there's 333,000,000 United fans out there worldwide. :Oo
If marketed right, this AR stuff could be huge for the 3DS. And will no doubt inspire imitation by competitors like Sony and those in the smartphone business.
If not done right, it will end up like the GB Camera and be just a footnote in gaming history.
Is anyone else curious as to just how big these AR cards could be?
Imagine if Nintendo did an advertisement campaign where they painted an AR thing on the floor in the middle of a really big town, and you took your 3DS.
It'd be awesome!
