-_- ok nvm with that statement you made you just proved what type of a dreamy world you live in. LOl indeed. Press coverage does dictate what a market is. Publishers not making games for home consoles really shows that it's the same market. oh wait. but yea nvm you are absolutely right, what you mentioned are definitely what dictates what a market is or not. Brilliant logic there...

cheerleading? :P now now don't get pissy. I'm just stating a fact. All your ramblings about Japanese PSYCHE etc etc you always end up with HW and SW sales and entries. I repeat just because Wii, despite being the market leader for the market it repesents, is weak and perforiming even worse than a console that is more expensive than it and has been for some time DOES not mean you can define your own lil theory on what a market is and why handheld and home console are the SAME market. I repeat, not the same market.

and true if PS3 did better home console sales market would have done better imo too. You are right, sony dropped the ball there. nintendo is not at fault here by any means. Sony would have surely proved to be a better market leader imo too. At least it's getting more SW support than the current market leader. At least those silly people who bought a home console without knowing about the 'new reality' you seem to be aware of will get something to keep them company. Good things the devs who make exclusive home consoles didn't get your memo either. For the sake of those who do not share the same Japanese Psyche as you do, please don't send it to them..pleeeeeeeease?

So... what exactly does dictate what the market is?  If you play your machine on the subway/toilet/couch or just on the couch?  That's it?

Sony's pretty much proven how well they can lead this gen.  The biggest userbase decline in Japanese history combined with a platform whose fluke success is attributable to Capcom alone pretty much.  Today's SCEI couldn't lead their way out of a paper bag.

the fact that you can't see any difference beyond that is just sad. I won't even bother educating you on it.

yep and Nintendo are proven leaders alright! :P look how great the Wii is doing leading the home consoles in Japan. after ps1 and ps2 leading the way in the market and having such a strong presense, HW AND SW, Ninty won one gen and BAM! what a sorry state home consoles are in in comaprison to back then. You are right, lol it definitely is Sony's fault too (so is the war in Iraq I hear...also the japanese Psychez....)

Keep those theories coming, I find them highly amusing

market changed, didn't merge. Simple as that. As markets change things like what system a game goes to change as well, nothing new. We will see it next gen too without a doubt.

Yeah, it changed.  It changed from PS2 directly to DS.  That's how the market "changed", lol.

yeah wii/ps3/360 turned into handhelds this gen! oh wait..that's not the 'change'? it's obvious yet you miss the point? like no wayyyyy

Mmh...

Guys,DQIX has been announced for DS at the end of 2006.

And in the same year, before, the third parties started to invade the DS with their games:Tales of,FFTamagotchi, and so many other brands...

If we are saying that the Wii failed in having a continuous respectable support for the home scenary(because,in 2008,it was starting to have some support, and in 2009 it had the support)I agree with you...now,Wii does not even have a horrible support...it has NO support at all,at the moment, aside two-three games LITERALLY.

But the main support was already on DS...and now,the main support is on PSP,3DS,so little DS and...PS3.

But,if you note,the PS3 has a strange support.

Why strange?Simple:Musou,Shin Sangoku Musou,Yakuza,Yakuza spin-off,RE,sort-of-Musou,Tales of,Gundam Musou...

It has practically always the same franchises, with few different things...and maybe this is the reason because, even if these games sells well on the platform, the platform itself is not reaching numbers superior to the 25k.So far,PS3 is lacking of an event, something not containing Musou,Yakuza,Pro Baseball Spirits(here's another one) in the name...and the first party support from SCEJ is unexistent untile the arrive of The Last Guardian.

And,in fact, when have the PS3 had the major rises? When games like MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII,something different, have been released...I see only Ninokuni as software possibly giving a boost to its sales.

Ah,an other thing:the market is unique, especially in Japan.

Before, there was the PS2,now there are DS and PSP.

I was hoping for a list. The PSP has come a long way to where it is today, there's no comparing it to the DS, as it really got all the support for years. The DS had games the Wii should have had, but little by little, The PSP got stronger, found its niche and as strong as a brand in Japan as any other system.

While it's hard to really outsell a a device that has Pokemon, Super Mario, Mari Kart , Dragon Quest, no other second place has done as well as the PSP, ever.

The Wii sells first party games, tons of it which I am happy about and has allowed even the 360 to get better support. God I missed the thread on how the Last Story was going to replace Final Fantasy.

I already posted a release list earlier in the thread actually.  I'll re-post it minus all the ADV shovelware for you, again this is only games with actual dates so far.

It's nice to see you freak out and again ignored the fact that with Sony fucking up, Nintendo Wii failed to lead which gave way to a handheld getting all the games. For a console that sells so much, it's a terrible leader which is why you pretend that market doesnt exist.

lolwut?  Nintendo's leadership is precisely why a handheld got all the games.  DS curbstomped every sales record in Japanese history, and it's been the undisputed market leader in Japan this cycle.  This is like ancient history at this point, stop freaking out about it. <3

In fairness, no console has gotten true support this gen which has lead to the down trend of the Japanese market. A bunch of games the PS3 has gotten is usually ports from ( insane) 360 games or very niche titles that will sell 200k.

Having the DS, an underpowered Handeheld getting 90% of the major games plus PSP, these developers has done more harm to the growth of gaming in Japan.

I know the DS was a huge seller, crazy big, but the Wii should have been supported as well. If it wasnt for Nintendo and Sony, japanese gaming would not be as important as it is today. Their games have fallen behind in my opinion.

lol, you won't bother?  You never tried?!  Just tell me, what are these numerous and clear differences between the segmented home and handheld console markets this gen?

As far as Nintendo, the sales speak for themselves.  Even though it's a relative flop in the region, Wii still somehow managed to get more Japanese 2 million sellers than PS1 or PS2 ever did, and that's largely on Nintendo's back alone.  They're a stunning leader, they've pretty much reinvented the JP market twice over now, it's just almost no one else wanted to follow (on Wii at least, plenty followed their rise to heaven on the market leading DS).

man they could hide the NGP 2 years from Japan and the PSP would still sell awesome!!!

of course 3DS is destroying...its only the 2nd week...
