Forums - Nintendo - Mario games are 12 for 12 this gen -- All million-sellers

If we go by the 3d GTA's, we got two on the ps2 and a third that would have been out now were it not for the delay. We also might see another one before this gen is out.

That sure beats 3 games in 3 generations.

I want a Mario RPG, using the Galaxy engine - set in the Galaxy universe. That would just be.... too awesome. Galaxy was touching on it at points as well.

I was referring to the overused franchises aside from Mario Party 8. I don't get it, you knew where Soriku was coming from, yet my post flew over your head.

Don't forget the 2 on the PSP!

Oh ok. I meant that Mario party was the only overused franchise in the Mario Universe, and then I asked for a major successful franchise that was as little used as the Mario Platformers.

I didn't pick up on your intentions because GTA really isn't that bad an offender, especially not when placed beside series like Call of Duty and Final Fantasy

And yet, despite being in so many games, can anyone think of an overused franchise aside from Mario Party? I mean we've just got the third 3d mario platformer in 3 generations! Not many major successful franchises can boast so few iterations.

GTA?

I assume that you said GTA as an overused franchise... because it is... in the last generations we have had GTA3, VC, SA. LC stories and VC stories (on PS2 as well) ---edit; i took too long and this has been clarifyed---

It is a good point stof, apart from Mario Party how many Mario genres has Mario been overused in... you could say sports, but it's not like we get a whole new set of Mario sports every year like with EAs licenced sports.

I mean there have been 4 mario tennis and 3 mario golf games in the past 11 years... and so far no sport has been on the same console twice.... in fact the only mario games to have appeared on a single console twice have been the main series (on NES, SNES, GB AND GBA there were a few mario platformers) and Mario Party games.

and @ your reply to my last post... i said they re-hash games, but with different characters.

I had no qualms with the Mario franchise, just my beef was that Mario is just in so many games, in so little time.

ya i do want another mario rpg, i beet the first, but im on the last boss on ttyd, i will probally try again in the next week.

Mario is the largest brandname figure in gaming. He's going to sell no matter what he's in. I don't blame Nintendo for wanting to make user friendly sports games with him. Without him in it, they wouldn't sell. I don't call it milking the franchise. I call it smart. People will say you dont' see other people doing that with their top characters, but how many other characters could really be in so many different games. Mario is easily the most versatile character in gaming.

i'll buy a wii when mario kart is out

''Hadouken!''

i don't give a damn about mario
haven't beaten 1 mario platform game in my life
but mario kart
damn i love that series
