Aren't we supposed to make the situation as dire as possible so when it does well, people act shocked and crow is eaten? I thought that was all part of the master plan...O.O |

As some people already said I think it will be similar to how PS3 is now. Many games available at retail and only a few small titles exclusively on PSN.
Of course didital distribution has big advantages, but there's one concern I'm really worried about. That is, will I be able to play the games I downloaded 25 years from now?
What if some of the games I downloaded got pulled because of some stupid licensing issues? What if the respective publisher goes bankrupt and the game won't be offered any more? Then I couldn't download it to a new console in case the old console with the game installed breaks.
With games I buy on a physical medium I can at least guarantee that they will work 30 years from now when I handle them with care and my house with the games in it doesn't burn down.

It isn't? Then what is it saying, exactly? I understand that only top tier games will make the cut to sell at retail and, since the PS brand has never had many huge hitters and it is my personal belief that an online market won't work too well on the NGP, this won't be great for NGP's sales.

I already did. If I'm making a huge and obvious comprehension mistake, I would like for you to point it out for me if it wouldn't be too much of a bother.

What we are saying is that all games that appear physically will be made available digitally. Not necessarily all games have to be made available physically. Having the option of a digital-only method affords more creative risk-taking, and that’s because you don’t have that risk of physical inventory associated with it.
All he is saying is very simple: All AAA games will be on disc but not all the smaller games will. Some smaller games will only be available on PSN. This is basicly just like the PS3 or 360.

Given the article's interpretation, I assumed that it would be more oriented towards online than the HD consoles, though I suppose this would make more sense.

There will probably be more smaller games and apps on the NGP given the portable and online connectivity of it. But the studios that can afford releasing physical games at full price do so. It isnt going to change that. There are plenty of small studios developing for IOS, android, PC that will be happy to distribute on the NGP. Like I said in my first post, how to spin something positive into negative 101.
