It's the same action, why would it change? In term of scale, well HD vs mobile, go figure. But I am amazed how deep and action pack a PSP game can get. It is truly impressive.

Let me rephrase this one more time.

In what way besides writing is Ghost of Sparta better than the console trilogy?

Same action,  better story.

That's a no.

Chains of Olympus already had a better story than the rest of the series, but its action was notably weaker, especially in the lack of enemy variety and decent secondary weapons, but more in the fact that things just didn't f eel quite right, as if there were artificial limiters on everything that was happening.

Is it better than the action in Chains of Olympus?

There was actually new innovation to the gameplay which GOW3 never expanded on. No, it doesnt look as good, no it wont have the same amount enemies, but it was presented better, the story was told better and it felt new, fresh. It was a much better experience which so many ignored because it was on the PSP.

Let's regress for a second, what are we arguing about?

We all know, 3DS won't even come close to NGP graphics wise, it seems the concern is the team that would be working on the NGP games are not the top team who works on the the console. I actually agree on that as Sony needs to give the same importance as PS3 as with NGP. Funny though, the best GOW, the best Resistance, The best Killzone are all from the PSP.

So is Ghost of Sparta really all that?

I kind of assumed it was of a scale similar to the first PSP game.

Edit: Chains of Olympus. I forgot its name for like two minutes straight, that was bugging me.

No, Ghost of Sparta wasn't all that, I'd rather play a game like Ghost Trick on a hand held and leave God of War for my PS3 to handle because 3 really is a nice looking game. If NGP is still going the route of that kind of experience on a handheld, they are going to get ass fucked again outside Japan (Assuming MH is not on 3DS.) They need good portable games, which is something I've been saying for months and months. THEY NEED TO MATCH NINTENDO ON "PORTABLE" GAMES!

kind of funny from someone who just posted 2 resident evil games on the 3DS. Listen, what Sony needs is to balance out the type of games they release. People forget that this was their first handheld and one that is about to sell 70 million. All NGP needs is Sony to support it just like they do the PS3.

Funny how I own 2 PSPs too eh?

The " I own" excuse doesnt work on me. The point still stands, I don't hear people complaining about the huge amount of console games being ported or created for the 3DS. Funny that Nintendo is using the PSP core notion to push the system yet no complaints.

Sony has multiple times stated just like 3DS, we will have both casual and core games.

That is a disheartening "no"

Actually, it about the gap of a Gamecube to a Xbox360, people are just used to HD consoles now so they don't see the gap as much, then again I don't see much gap on NGP demos to some 3DS games either, but I can see the details clearly being much higher than any PSP game on the NGP or 3DS. People just don't want to see it, people mentally brush it off, because it's Nintendo =P. Not to mention none of us have actually seen it in 3D outside of the very few people.

I don't see much of a gap between the NGP and the 3DS myself.  Not one that the specs would indicate.  The only reason I'm excited for NGP is that I'm loving PS3's PSN games more and more and the idea of being able to play pixeljunk shooter 1&2 and slam bolt scrappers where ever I may happen to be is orgasm inducing.  Plus some mobile games look cool but they are action games and I would want buttons and a dpad for that.

I just can't be mad at people who don't see that big a difference cause i barely do myself. I'm not entirely sure it boils down to an anti-Nintendo bias though. On a 3-5 inch screen I don't think half these damn shaders and shit will mean anything really.  I only hope that the ability to render more things at once will have a great effect on gameplay at somepoint. Dead Rising 3 NGP here I come.

Well, my point still stands.  In terms of polys and textures (though on both systems textures are hit or miss), yes the 3DS is better, but its not leagues beyond the PSP.  I have noticed a trend in some 3DS games where it seems a lot is pumped into the main character, while the backgrounds and enemies don't see nearly as much love.  Which really isn't that big a deal, I mean the main character is always there onscreen for the whole game.  Also, what makes the biggest difference, which I don't think many people understand, is the improved AA and shaders.  If PSP were able to pull off the same level of AA and shading, then most of you would truly not see much difference in the other departments, either.

I do see a bigger jump when going from 3DS to NGP.  It has a much higher poly count and can pull off better textures.  Of course with a bigger, higher res screen you're going to be able to tell the difference better.  And if it couldn't pull that off, those games would look pretty bad.

I think the gaps are about the same from PSP to 3DS to NGP at this point. People are giving the PSP too much credit lol, it's not like I don't have  the system. AA is not as much an issue on smaller screens, so it's really all about lighting, shaders and shadows, and PSP is not miles behind with those, it's not even capable of pulling off good ones if at all with current standards.

You'd better hope so, that's how the DS destroyed PSP. 3DS is going to have tons of games on both sides and if Sony can't keep up with that shit, they'll get destroyed again.

I have said this over again, it's the control, not the games that allowed the DS to put a beating on the PSP. You own a PSP ( sorry, 2) and the PSP is loaded with games from casual to hardcore, but the DS allowed better and fresh new ways to play games which the PSP could not compete with.

The PSP always felt like a small console with worst control and that hurt it badly. Even the great games took major hit because of the controls.

Well, Sony also needs to do better with marketing this time around as well, there are a lot of things they can do to make NGP sell well I think, but they haven't hit the mark yet from what I'm seeing. Yes, the controls on DS did bring about some really awesome games that the PSP didn't have or didn't play as well once ported over, these are all factors. I just really wish they'd have a flip cover like the DS or 3DS this time around, I really hate how the screen is wide open like that and having to put cases on my PSP to make them even thicker and longer just pisses me off.

I'm still waiting to see how they'll make the analog stick fit right without it breaking a lot since they are literally sticking out really fkn' far, might be one of those "years after" purchase again sigh..........

Every other devices out there has an exposed screen. The NGP is actually thinner than the PSP. And why do speakk as if the PSP was a failure. It is the 7 biggest console of all times, what Sony has to focus on is getting people to buy games for it.

I still think these games cost too much, I believe as with most the next PSP needs its own unique games when you say PSP2, you know the games for it not just Monster Hunter. Finally, with the many different control NGP is sporting, I think Sony is on its way to compete properly.
