hell no...i mean the highest price was PS3 with 599 and looking back this definatly was not the smartest thing to do...even Sony know this now and said that they learned from the high price of the PS3...

THe 3DO was around US$799 in 1993 dude.

yeah but still my point came across...i mean how the 3DO did?i can predict not good...so still for me its too high price for a console = fail/not doing that great...but thanks for adding that fact...i didnt knew that...thx

Well I didn't say it did well I just said there was very high priced Consoles before. The PS3 is the highest price Console to sell reasonably well and that was and is because of the PlayStation Brand name. and if anybody made an US$800 Console today it would fail no mater what brand name it had a console is not a PC.

also I have said it before and I will say it again SONY for the PS3 delivered a replacement for this

when the consumer wonted a replacement for

Theres no way there gonna throw a console up for that kinda money next generation..... cmon guys think back to 2006, Everyone (including me) were laughing, trashing, and sooo on at sonys 600 dollar price tag..... I honestly dont expect anything over 500 dollars next gen..... Cause the way the economys going (especially here in america) middle to lower class people like me who are the majority of the gamers wont be spending that kinda money on a console.... thats why sony didnt sell worth crap for so long.... And that would lead to why i bought my wii and 360 first.... I mean i didnt buy my ps3 till it was $399...... didnt buy a 360 till it was $349 (special), and wii when it was $249..... Overall thats why wiis winning this gen.... not only was it the most innovative but it was the cheapest.... if the wii sold for 400 bucks at launch it would be a different story today :D

Nintendo will most certainly not price their console that much it is not even a question that should be asked! Anyone asking that should be put in jail :p Nintendo is not stupid! The other two though won’t surprise me if they do have a price range as high as 800.

Nintendo’s next home console will be 250-300 and not more.

In the infinite universe, Pachter predictions are true. That's what makes it scary, but then again, in the infinite universe a monkey can predict better than Pachter by throwing bananas at a keyboard.

No. Sony already made that mistake this gen of the entry price at $600. If any consoles are $450 then the company will be effectively signing it's death warrant, if in this case they are practically even in terms of content - if sony makes the new PSN payable, if MS adds the free wireless adapter encase of Slim. If the differences between them are like X360 Slim and PS3 Slim, then the price difference is what'll make a difference, so they'll compete directly and make sure that the entry price is not ludicrous, no matter the costs.

Tease.

I don't think there's any chance we'll see $800 consoles, but when it comes to the pricing for next-gen consoles I can see it go either way. Companies now-a-days are making huge profit margins, so they don't necessarly need to have their consoles cost $500/600 in order for make alot of money. With the economy the way it is, people are more tempted to buy consoles which are cheaper. However gaming companies also have large fanbases, so even if they did rack up the price (not to the extent of $800, but maye in the $500-600 region) I'm willing to bet a large amount of people would still buy them. I mean, apple is a prime example of this.

In regards to the comment of huge margin profits, most companies, with the exception of Nintendo operate at a loss the first years of the cycle, losing money on hardware or marketing etc, in the latter years when the technology is more developed and more time is vested into figuring out cheaper components or maybe more efficient components that are both performance and price efficient we see revisions such as the Slims. I think both the MS and Sony have operated at a loss and had large loss on hardware. I think it's safe to say that in terms of console, if there is sufficient competition then the price is a deciding factor as is the case between X360 and PS3, the PS3 was meant to be trumping all competition, and it's acceptable why - having sold ~130m PS2s at the time and around 100 m PS1s, it's only logical that it would sell the best, but that was not the case untill the price has dropped to lower boundaries.

Most likely some profitable $500 at launch I think. Anyone who thinks we'll see consoles releasing for $300 next gen, even if it is Nintendo's one, is seriously deluded. The handheld pricing are already a slap back to reality.
