HUGE lol at the usual liberal debaters on this site who in their ignorance and political correctness refuse to acknowledge the fact that Christianity is inherently more peaceful than Islam.

You must be one of those Nazi Swedes.

What's that? and how is it relevant?

It is relevant, considering your views.

Just stop. And what are my views?

Just because you live in a old-fashioned religious society dominated by conservative Catholic Christians it doesn't mean that represents the global situation of Christianity.

You are just bitter because Christians oppress you in Romania so you automatically put all religions in the same box. It's just immature.

You have to free yourself from that. Start by moving to Sweden and it'll open your eyes quickly.

I as a Christian have no problem with acknowledging that Buddhism is more peaceful than Christiany. I also have no problem with acknowledging that Christianity is often corrupted in the hands of sinful humans. Fact is fact. Religions and philosofies are fundamentally different from each other, live with it.

Sapphi Snake, I forgot to say that it's also understandable, but also immature. Not just immature.

I think that Romanians are Orthodox. And, to say the truth, I think that Catholicism is not that conservative.

Oops.

(it doesn't change my argument though about Sapphi's situation and feelings to live in a conservative over-religious society. "Religious" in the bad sense of the word)

Depends on which countries your talking about.

African Catholics are far more conservative than say Catholics in Canada or the US. Catholic's here in Canada are split on many issues, they try to be hip and relevent while throwing out their roots. Heck I knew some Catholics in my school who invited me to an Orgy. They said I was Christian and they liked that, I got offended and told them I didn't believe in orgies.

They were like, well we go to confession on Friday and we ask for forgiveness and that makes everything good. You can have all the sex you want and God will always forgive you. They also were stoners and many of them loved getting drunk.

Infact looking at them theirs many Athiests who were more conservative. But then you hear about the Catholics in North Africa who are condeming the North American Catholics for their liberalism.

I think today the Christian identity is split. Many want to fit in with todays culture they want their beliefs to be cool and politically correct. While other Christians want to conserve their beliefs and live pure biblical lives. Then theirs some in between.

Its an identity crisis. Sapphi obviously has had a bad experiance with the Christian's in his country. Its understandable but its pretty bad to lump all Christian's into the same catagory. To stereo type us all. Super Chunk sure wouldn't like it if we all just stereotyped Muslims too.

Yah all Muslims are gun weilding suicidal terrorists out to kill innocent unarmed civilians and abuse women (P.S I'm not calling all Muslims terrorists, I'm making a point)

But I have to agree with Slime Beast Christianity has not shed the blood that Islamic extremists have. I won't go as far as to say Islam is more violent because the crusades were pretty bad but I'd say as far as organised religion goes neither one can be considered to have been better.

In closing, Christianity is clearly a peaceful religion. If you go by the text (New Testiment) it is perhaps the most peaceful religion on earth (Fighting Buddhism for first place) Where as the Qur'an whether in or out of context is far more violent. Regardless of the actions of its followers and just based on the holy texts Christianity is no doubt more peaceful then Islam.

First of all, most people here are Eastern Orthodox, not Catholic.

Second of all, Romania's a good example of what happens when a country is too conservative and too Christian. The countries where "things are better", are countries where people do not take their religiosn seriously, or are some sort of Liberal Protestant Christians. So I think that I'm very justified in disliking Christianity (and religion in general for that matter),

Buddhism ismore peacefull. But at the end of the day anyone can justify any attrocity using any religion.

You can justify athrocity even without religion. Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin were all atheist and anticlericalist; Napoleon and the French revolutionaries were anticlericalist and nonetheless their actions caused millions of deaths.
Rationlity and sheer violence don't exclude each other.

And the bottom line is that there's no difference between Christianity and Islam?

If Islam goes and gets itself made irrelevant similar to how Christianity is today relative to how it was 200 years ago then Islam will make itself just as good. The best thing however in order to better themselves is for anyone to give up religion entirely.
