Also, considering the first shipments, Asia should give GT5 at least 300k units lifetime more than to GT4.

I made a prediction a while back that GT5 would sell more than 1 million between Latin America and MEAA. I think I'll make thread about it whenever Sony gives specific numbers for LA or South America.

Worth saying that this was at the end of December. Our RETAIL sales for the game at the end of December are as follows...

Worldwide - 5.07 Million

Japan - 560k

Americas - 1.4 Million

Europe/Asia (And other areas) - 3.08 Million

It's hugely undertracked, really.

Yes, Japan and America retail are quite compatible with their respective shipped numbers, but EMEAA and WW look undertracked by 600-700k, if the % of units still on the shelves or in the channel is the same in EMEAA as in JP and America or even slightly higher than in America (as JP being a smaller region will have the smallest % in the channel, America has obviously a larger one and EMEAA % should be by a small amount larger than America, being more sparse but with its most important part commercially, EU, with similar compactness and average transports distances and efficiency to North America).

Also, considering the first shipments, Asia should give GT5 at least 300k units lifetime more than to GT4.

It seems to be me that this makes sense.

if this is the real number then its possible that GT5 could do 8mil by the end of the year and 10mil by 2013. which is great news.

but are other PS3 games are undertracked?? because Sly Cooper certainly is, but are their other ones dont we know about??

could a moderator please comment on their thoughts about this matter because i'm curious if GT5 is a one off, or part of a bigger picture we cant see yet! theres also more PS3s in Europe than any other region, and we know this region is very difficult to track so any information from vgc mods would be much appreciated!

i keep hearing people saying Sly is undertracked, im not saying its not, but what makes you guys think it is

can't remember for which country it was, but we had SW numbers for one country in Europe and the sales for sly collection in that country alone was more than what we have for the whole region

It was Finland i think. and GT5 was the best selling game of 2010 in that region ironically. both games were in FInland's 2010 top 50 best selling games and both games are undertracked here on vgc it seems. so the missing sales of GT5 and Sly seem to be coming from these combined sales of smaller European countries.

the big countries like the UK (okay not physically big - but you know what i mean), Germany, France, etc seem to be tracked appropriately. but smaller EU countries are harder to track.

the thing i'm curious about is that we know these 2 particular games are undertracked - or at least we think they are undertracked. but what other PS3 games are there we dont know about, because GT5 could only be a peice of the biger picture - which is why i wanted someone from admin to post their thoughts on the matter.

I believe sales numbers for Finland were posted on a tracking site and they were around half of what the site has - i.e. according to VGC half of the Sly Collection's sales in EMEAA were in Finland alone!

Haven't looked at it in detail but I'm sure it was Finalnd - maybe you could search for it?

I think a lot of lower level selling titles are undertracked vs the big titles whose sales are clearer.  I imagine it would be hard to fix, though.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

So here's what we have for additional shipped units since the 5.52 million number was announced in December.

Japan - 50k
North America - 330k
Europe - 410k
Asia - 70k

Total -- 560K

I think that shipment announcement was done in early December so the above numbers are probably for most of December.

- 5.52 million is the first shipment (for launch in 25th Nov).
- 6.37 million is for 31th Dec (1 month later).

I din't undertood that 560k...  is 850k shipped in December.

i think 5.52 was given for the first 12 days sales.. around 7 Dec..  so i personally believe it included not only launch shipment but atleast 1 more..

Hummm... maybe because the doc is for 12 day sales... is possible ship more copies in 12 days? I guess not... for me that was the first shippment.

Official PR: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/101210_e.pdf

My prediction:

- Launch: 5.52m / 5.52m
- December: 850k / 6.37m
- January: 550k / 6.92m
- February: 400k / 7.32m
- March: 350k / 7.67m

I expect near 7.7 million shipped for 31th March (next PD update)... and more 2.5m until end of the year... 10 million shipped this year is very possible.

Everyone seems very excited but is this not your classic Shipped versus sold. Yes Poly have sold X to the retailers but VGC is tracking sold to consumers. What would be more interesting would be the next update to the shipped to retailers on the Poly site as this would I think give us more confidence in what has been sold to consumers. It is highly likely that demand to retail could of been higher than consumer demand or of course vice versa although I do not recall even with the lateness of the announcement this being the case.

I am sure somebody has mentioned this already but the last few pages seem to ignore the difference.

GT5 will sell more than GT4 lifetime for sure. Its amazing the loyal fans are being loyal and buy this game eventough the biased anti PS3 media hated on it.

To sell more than GT4 needs more than just loyal fans... needs a lot of new fans (and that was happen).

To sell more than GT4, GT5 also needs new fans. and it seems that in Europe and possibley the US that is happening. if these shipment numbers are correct, does this mean GT5 has sold more than the PS3 version of Black Opps here in Europe - which is what i find hard to believe.

Here it is:

according to FIGMA (FInnish Games and Multimedia Association) Sly Collection sold 11,911 copies in Finland alone and in 2010 alone, while according to VgChartz it sold 11,694 in the whole EMEAA in 2010 and 2011 combined...
