the DS should be able to hit 2 million if the supply is there. but certainly not a gaurantee. if the wii can gain back its momentum in japan by xmas next year then it could maybe hit 2 million. of course no way it'll ever have enough systems in stores at one time to do it.

Well DS actually has a shot this next week's sales data. If it does 800k in America, 750k in Europe/Other, and 450k in Japan well then it could do it. Cause next week will be the last huge week of sales. The week after will only be half good sales and the rest drops.

I don't think Wii could ever do it, but DS has a shot.

There are very few consoles that ever get 1million+ in a single week.

PS2 did it 14 times in it's life, but the closest it got to 2 million was 1,775,427
GBA did it 10 times in its life, and the highhest was the same wek as PS2s, with 1,343.041.

The best run of million+ weeks (most weeks over a million in a row) is held by PS2 with 5 consecutive million+ weeks for December 2002, and December 2003 it did the same.

The DS had already had 5 weeks over a million before this Christmas period, and has already had 4 weeks over so far this year, it will definately take the PS2 crown of best selling week after next week... and it should take the crown for the longest run of weeks too, because the week after Christmas should als be above 1 million, and thus be 6 week in a row for DS.

I think it has a definate possibility of 2 million next week, but it may fall short (should be between 1.8 and 2.1 million)

Also Wii will make it's first 1 million+ week for next week.

if the demand is as high this time next year and nintendo have penetrated china, korea and other usually untapped parts of the globe, they could pass 2 million easy. I think this year will be Nintnedos best though, for the DS anyway.

We'll find out next week. If it doesn't happen next week, then we need to wait precisely 52 weeks in order to try again.

I think this year is the most likely chance DS has of hitting it. The DS has to be hitting a fair amount of saturation by now, esp in Japan. Bringing it to other markets like China/Korea is ok but they're fairly small markets (non-pirated) and portable gaming market culture is not as big.

well you never know, DS could explode even more next year, meaning it makes 2 million a week or two earlier.... or John Lucas could be right and Wii explodes enough to manage 2 million before 52 weeks is up.

both i doubt will happen, I believe this may be the DSs stellar year, (not to say next year will be bad, but this year will be slightly better) And even if Wii sales do increase i doubt it will make 2 million in any week, certainly not earlier than the week before Christmas.
