Forums - General - I got a call for a job but now I'm not sure if the person is interested

I'm not sure what to do exactly...

This person called me up and asked if I would like to accept a position from either the hours of 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am.

It's at a gas station, he called me when I was in class so it went to voice mail. I called him back once I checked my voice mail messages after class and told him I was interested. He told me he would call me back in the morning.

The next day he didn't call me back in the morning so I called him back around 12:30pm and asked if the position was still available. He told me yes but... he said he'd look over my application and give me a call later.

I'm a bit confused about what happened. First he seemed eager to hire me and now he's just being vague and saying he'll call me back. Should I call him back in a few days time? I really need a job, lol.

I also have an interview at a grocery store and would like some tips on what to do in the interview if anyone has any to offer.

I wouldn't bother him anymore, if he calls back, great. If he doesn't nevermind just find another job, calling him and asking about it will just piss him off and make you seem desperate.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Pass it up, working at a gas station isn't particularily pleasant - I speak from experience.

Hm, alright.

Any tips on that interview I mentioned though?

Customer is always right.

Well that's the policy in England anyway, not sure about US, but I'd assume it's similar if not the same.

If there are any "What if's" situations when he asks you questions and how you would react, always be on customers side or choose an option that pleases the customer the most. Other than that I am all out of tips :p

Probably got a call from a mate or something asking if they/their son/daughter could have the job. Which means you get the shaft!

I had EXACTLY the same thought.

I don't know what country you're from and I don't know if this counts for hourly jobs, but with salary jobs in America, if they give you an offer and you accept it and then they take it away or try to change it without your consent they can get in deep shit.

And pardon me for being completely ignorant, but what kind of pointers would you need for an interview for a gas station attendant?  I'm totally not trying to be condescending but wouldn't the basic requirements be 1) be alive, 2) don't be offensive to the customers, and 3) don't steal shit?
