It looks like someone doesn't know what a killer app is.

What do you say it is?

A software that sells hardware. I just don't see people buying a NGP for "Little Deviants".

That's a system seller. ICO and SOTC are killer apps though they don't really sell that much.

Call me old but Halo: Combat Evolved, Soul Calibur, and Super Smash Bros. Melee were killer apps.

Now, killer app probably means something completely different.

If you had mentioned Bonk's Adventure and Kid Icarus, maybe I'd call you old, but killer app has always been a AAA game, system seller is what you're thinking about.

A killer app by definition is a peice of software that raises hardware sales substantailly. Anything that does not do that cannot be called a killer app.

There's no "definition" to what a killer app is, but it's generally seen as a AAA gaming experience. Dead Space is a killer app, but it doesn't really raise HW sales anywhere.

I can never take these announcements seriously when they're from a first or second party developer.

It says that it *can* sells systems, implying it doesn't *have* to.  It just has to be "necessary and desirable", which Shenmue definitely is. lol   So any really great game would apply.

Sorry I thought you said above my last post I just saw what you were referring to below that post.

unfortunately  a lot of grate games like Shenmue and SOTC are desirable but not to the average consumer.

How do you know that LD's won't sell systems? Nintendogs didn't look like a system seller.

PS2 killer apps was the grand theft auto series (3, VC and SA). those games would of pushed millions of hardware

NGP would need an system seller with an Monster hunter game for japan, an shooter for the US and an Action adventure for EMEAA and an small causal title to draw in wii/ds owners.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Well considering they'd get fired if they said otherwise publicly, what else would you expect them to say?

Tease.

i mean where is sorcerer?

Sorcery is coming out on April 1st

anyways to the thread, I'm expecting alot of good and unique games to come out for it, alot of them from some smaller devs that no1 ever heard of who are just trying to get into the industry

A lot of what NGP offers has already been seen on DS. Little Deviants controls with the touch screen....Sooooooo 2004. I really don't see the Hardcore Casual buying an NGP for games like that.
