It's kind of funny how people just realized the amount of control platform holder has over "your" console.

The title of this thread implies this hack is real, while the OP itself neither confirms or denies this.  Adding "supposed" or some other qualifier to the thread title would've been nice.

How exactly is it for their own good to support freely  ppls that will not purchase your products and go out of their way to pirate them ?

PSN might be free for PS3 users but it ain't free for Sony..

Yeah a hacker can steal your credit card information if you install his CFW on your PS3.

First thing is if you're dumb enough to install a CFW you probably deserve this ( basically the ppls at risk are those that try to pirate) and second thing is it's not different from every other hardware.

If you install a trojan or some other shit on your PC, ppls can steal your credit card information too....

I had CFW on my PSP 1000 and 2000 just because I could. I didn't pirate. I ran homebrew apps. Itws just like my Droid is jailbreaked. And the main benefit of my jailbreak, I have the CPU running equal to the Droid X.

Hmm.. well.. let me gues..

As someone pointed, what if they can change ID of their console.. Than, it would make sense. First, they wouldn't be banned at the start of PSN, and secondly, if they change ID for another, and the ID belongs to other console, then sony will ban "legal"console. So i think, this is, what the article was about.. not that they will ban you, but SONY will ban ID console, which have had ID generated by this hacker.. And, that could be possible, if a "patch"can chage PS3 IDs and pretend to be like other console (they will be unbanned), so they really ban YOU, and without any warrning.. this could get even worse :(

BTW.. as someone has said, that PS4 will be hacker proof.. sorry to dissapointed you.. It wouldn't be.. everything is a math.. it only need some data to know, how it count.. EVERYTHING has been /will be hacked.. soon or later..

And don't join it with the LINUX.. it only show, how great the system is..  but it really depends how you use it ..
