Not genuine thoughts at all. I think all people have played out the scenario of killing someone in their head at some point; I would surprised if anyone hasn't. But the thing is most of us don't because they're not serious thoughts, they're just our brains playing out a scenario and see what would happen.

It's like when you stand at the edge of a cliff (or another steep drop) and imagine yourself jumping off. You play out the scenario in your mind, but you never do it, you just do it to instinctively assess the danger.

I know the example I just used is believed to be an evolutionary response inherited from common ancestor that we share with other primates, and it is believed that we do it to judge what the most likely result is (which I imagine is quite important when you live in a tree). We don't seriously consider the act, we just consider the likely conclusions so that we can act accordingly.

I imagine that playing out the scenario of killing someone in your head is a similar kind of response to this.

I wonder if anyone who knows a little more than me could shed some light on it. I'm sure there's a term or something I'm missing here.

Perhaps the question should be "Have you have any serious thoughts about killing someone?" I should imagine most of us would answer no. I certainly would.

That actually sounds like a legitimate reason for something like this.

So where do you think the cutoff point for this is, though.  Where is the point where you can consider somebody a little insane?  Is it if you are able to even get the weapon in your hands...is Snesboy insane?  Or is somebody insane only if they are actually able to follow through with the whole entire murder.

I guess it's not a cut off point as such, I think playing out the scenario in your mind without any serious intent and actually having a serious thought about killing someone are two completely different things. The latter one being the insane one.

This didn't happen to be your sister, did it?

haha, no not at all. someone i had to live with. i care for my sister very much. and of course we've had arguments. the person i'm taking about was someone i lived next to, and she made my life hell. she was a bully and a bigot.

Well, I sure am glad I haven't ever had to deal with something like that, because I would probably wind up in jail for "accidentally" tripping her and leading to her falling down a set of stairs and breaking her neck and being paralyzed for life.

There are some people that I dislike but I would not go to the extreme by killing them. I do insult people occasionally.

Do you reference video games in the insults so they have no clue what you're talking about?

Nope, I know this gay person who while I don't particularly mind gays he acts very unusual. He also happens to be gamer.

Sounds like Lamarckism or a part of Genetic memory?  But to pinpoint exactly the term..Well I can't tell...I have read about it somewhere but I read about so many things and sadly for everything I learn I also forget stuff :s.

And yes I guess everyone thought about it, if you watch a movie for example where someone has to choose killing his gf or his best friend that people will think what they will do in his situation...

But serious thoughts about killing someone;.  no that not really..Not so far I can recall..

No. When I'm angry, I feel like causing people physical and psychological pain - I don't feel like killing them, though.
