Forums - Gaming - why are gamers so critical of nier

i started this game a few days ago and i think its great.  ive read a few articles regarding this game and they have given the game at best an average rating.  most of the comments were regarding the graphics.  i think the graphics are fine personally.  i think gamers are spoiled by uncharted or mass effect or what have you and if something isnt right up there with them, its no good.  the music is very memorable as well.  to me, music is just as important as the graphics for a game.  the only thing i dont like is that you cant lock onto enemies but that is a very minor point compared to the rest of the game.  the story is pretty decent as well.  im not very far into it, but i like the idea of playing as the father saving his daughter.  its different and refreshing from the normal mid-20s good looking strong guy who kicks everyone's ass being a cocky sex-driven jerk while doing it.  if anyone out there is on the fence for this game, get it.  it will probably be a gem 5 or 10 years down the road like ico and shadow of the collosus (and hopefully the last guardian).  not to meantion, it gives me a similar feeling as those games.

great game, loved the music and i think the story is brilliant, the characters really build themselves onto you as you play through it and get each of the different endings

i also love the way that it shifts gameplay styles, makes me keep coming back to play different parts

Because they're a bunch of fucking nitwits. Nier is an awesome, awesome game (and this thread reminds me that I need to quit messing around with downloadable games and finish it).

Also, I totally approve of a protagonist who looks like Gary Busey.
