Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is NOT an RPG in any way shape or form.

it isnt but it has some characteristics of them.
| sparticus112b said: Oh man...all of them...that is a chore and a half. I'll go current Gen, sounds like fun. Blue Dragon - 8 Very childish story but everything else is pretty awesome. Fable II - 9 Tons of fun and pretty funny game. Definately made me stay up late playing it. Fable iii - 7.5 Don't know what happened. Maybe it was just a been there done that feeling but I didn't have nearly as much fun with this one. Infinite Undiscovery - 7 Decent and fun battle system...same with the story. Nothing special but I stil enjoyed it. Lost Odyssey - 9 I was pretty surprised by how much I liked this game. Thought it had a great story and I really liked the battle system. Could have done without the twin characters but the other characters were pretty awesome...didn't much care for most of the character designs but the actual characters were good. Mass Effect - 10 Epic/amazing/must play/awesome awesome story Mass Effect 2 - 10 pretty Epic...but not as epic as part 1 but for the lack of epic story it made up for it with improved gameplay. Star Ocean: The Last Hope - 6 Good lord the characters were annoying and the story was pretty bad. Good thing the battle system was decent. Tales of Vesperia - 9.5 My favorite tales game so far. Yuri is one of my favorite RPG characters. I loved the story but was dissapointed that the story tuned into every other Tales game about 90% of the way through it but still awesome. Wow - 360 had way more RPG goodness than I thought Disgaea 3 - 8 They're all about the same gameplay wise but for some reason it just wasn't as cool as the first one. Eternal Sonata - 8 I liked the battle system/story was half way decent but what I really loved about this game was how gorgeous I thought it was when I played it. Final Fantasy XIII - 8 I actually embraced the new battle system and found enjoyable but I miss the classic battle systems. Valkyria Chronicles - 8 Battle system is incredibly enjoyable but man was that a boring story (except for the the Valkrie - that was pretty cool). Kingdom Hearts 358/2 - 9 I loved Kingdom Hearts Kingdom Hearts Re:coded - 7 I love Kingdom Hearts but this game was eh...decent I guess. I will say that the battle system was better than 358/2 days but the story is lacking. Kingdom Hearts Zero: Birth by SLeep - 11 I'm bias, I really really love Kingdom Hearts games but I would say that this Kingdom Hearts game is the second best in the series behind Kingdom Hearts 2. My favorite RPG of all time would be Xenogears - if they remade that I would be one happy dude. |
I question that strongly.
Final Fantasy Crisis Core: 8/10 - Everything of it is good, nothing is great though...Loading times are looooooong.
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: 6/10 - The combat is fun, but the camera kills me. Story and characters are weak and corny.
Fallout 3: 8.5/10 - The game is HUGE, the freedom in almost every situation is cool, the quests are interesting, but there are a lot of bugs and the (HUGE) world looks everywhere almost identical.
Demon's Souls: 4/10 - Most overrated game ever. Just because it's (unfairly) hard, doesn't mean it's good. Mediocre in all aspects, the balancing is just TERRIBLE.
Final Fantasy XIII: 8/10 - Eye candy, good story, good but sometimes childish characters. Combat is VERY fun, but as RPG very flat and linear.
Mass Effect 2: 9.5 - The fighting is amazing, great chars, very cool background story, main story could be better though, great conversations, very interesting quests, but as RPG it feels a bit flat, too.
This gen:
1. Demon's Souls-By far my favorite game this gen. I dont need to say more.
2.Persona 3/4:While they might be on the PS2, they still were released this gen.
2.Valkyria Chronicles-It has been awhile since Sega delivered a game I enjoyed this much.
3. Folklore-I loved the artistic style of the game. Both characters were great (tho a bit repetative) and I must admit, that ending just, I dont know, gets me. Love the game.
4.Mass Effect-Completely epic start to finish. From the story to the crew, to the main villian it was one hell of a ride. I liked how they tried to include as many RPG elements as they could, though it all felt like an afterthought.
5. Eternal Sonata-This caught me by suprise. When I heard about the premise I was interested but extremely skeptical. I did not think an RPG based on a musican would work (regardless of how legendary he is), but I am very glad I was wrong.
6. Final Fantasy XIII-Enjoyed it enough that it became the second game I have a plat trophy in (besides Demon's Souls). While it might not rate as high as other FF games, I enjoyed every second of it and cannot wait till XIII-2 or FFvsXIII.
7.Atelier Rorona-Very cute game. The characters were great, the story was silly and the entire experience felt very animelike, and I love Anime.
7.Disgaea 3-While I might not have enjoyed the story as much as I did parts 1 and 2, the third installment definitely added enough gameplay features to give credit to the Disgaea franchise.
8. Mass Effect 2 - Not nearly as epic as the first. They basically did away with all the RPG elements they could, tho that is not completely a bad thing. While I might have enjoyed the gameplay more (it made more sense) the story was not even close to as amazing as the first. Main Villain? Shepards place in his/her organization? Who you report too? Crew? None of them compare to the first.
9. Dragon Age: Origins-Loved the combat system, the characters and the main villains (the darkspawn were a great idea), but it is still the ugliest RPG I have played this gen. At times the animation was completely laughable.
9.Lost Odyssey-I do not know why, but I did not enjoy this game nearly as much as most people did. While I am very glad I played it and will definitely play it again in the future, I just cannot put it into words my problem with the game.
10. Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope Int.-Loved all of it but Emo-Edge. That nearly ruined the game for me. Right when you finish with Emo-Edge...you ge Emo...yea Ill leave it at that.
11.Oblivion-Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall is one of my favorite games on the PC. For whatever reason, I could never get the feeling I had during Daggerfall while playing Oblivion.
12.Borderlands-Enjoyed the game for what it was, but the lack of a real story just got me. I will say tho, this is the first "RPG" that I enjoyed coop since Secret of Mana.
13.Magna Carta 2-I beat it and did not find that a waste of time. that cannot be that bad can it?
14. Trinity Universe/Last Rebellion/Cross Edge-Very animeish (this is a very good thing) but the game play made me cry a bit inside.
Ill leave the list there. Long enough as it is.
My favorite RPG series = Suikoden. If they release a real Suikoden game it will definitely make this list.
Demon's Souls: 9.5/10 VERY fun game, class/attributes could use some work.
Fallout 3: 8.5/10 Good fun, though the bugs and often sparse world hold it back.
FFXIII: 9/10 Enjoyed it immensely, but I don't want to go back again anytime soon.
Dragon Age Origins: 6/10 Somewhat bland combat, sub-par voice acting, far too much boring dialogue. Oh, and the skills/abilities/specialization nonsence is absolutely atrocious.
Oblivion: 9/10 Sunk quite a few hours into this one. Hurt by freezing and bugs.
Valkyria Chronicles: 9/10 Fantastic strategy game, beautiful music. Kinda cheesy at times. Class balance issues.
And some older stuff:
Tales of Symphonia: 8/10 Nice, but fits into that "almost great" category.
FF XII: 5/10 No need to elaborate, many topic have been filled with debate over this one.
FF10:9/10 The last turn-based FF had perhaps perfected the system.
Skies of Arcadia: 9.5/10 Slow combat is all that slows this epic experience down.
FF6:10/10 Nostalgia, rose-tinted glasses? Perhaps, but I still enjoy playing this game as much as I did when I was 10. Classic.
Quest 64: 7/10 Very simple, yet surprisingly fun.
Golden Sun 1&2: 10/10 Epic adventure from start to finish.
| mantlepiecek said: Demon's Souls - 10/10 Speechless. Dragon Age - 8.5/10 Veeeery long and has unnecessary combat. Atelier Rorona - 7.5/10 A lighthearted rpg that doesn't have much variety. Fable 2 - 9.5/10 My favorite lighthearted rpg. Mass Effect 2 - 8.5/10 Didn't feel like a RPG at all. Fallout 3 - 8/10 Very boring environments and repititive too. After a while in metro tunnels you would have to look at the map to know in which metro tunnel you are because they all look the same. I think that's all.... |
how is it that long? i finished it in 20 hours. its short.
dragon age:origins 10/10 very good game am on my 3rd play through, will play it 6 times.
oblivion 9/10 only did the side quests, crappy story.
demon souls 7/10 good game, great ideas, but i coudnt pass the first level to experience the rest.

| pariz said: This are the rpg games I got my the last two and a half years. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance 9.0 What can I say. I love it! Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn 9.5 My favourite Wii game. Rune Factory Frontier: 8.0 Pretty endearing and relaxing rpg. Tales of Symphonia: 9.5 Awesome story, characters and battle system. Love it all! Tales of the Abyss: 9.0 Gameplay wise it is better than Symphonia, but I just like the other game better for its story. ES IV: Oblivion: Couldn't get to play it enough. And I don't feel like. FallOut 3: The same happened to me. I know I should try harder. Maybe I will. Persona 4: 9.5 JRPG at perfection. Tales of Symphonia: DotNW: 8.5 I loved the game but it could have been so much more! Final Fantasy XIII: 9.0 I had 0 expectations or interest in it. It came out being a great experience. Demons Souls: 9.0 Such a wonderful challenge! I can't wait for Dark Souls. Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2: I agree with what sparticus112b said, though I grant them both a 9.5, if not a 10. Resonance of Fate: 8.0 It brought up some great ideas, but I just didn't love it. Arc Rise Fantasia: I just started it and though its visuals are weak compared to other Wii games, it seems great. Dragon Age: Origins: 9.0 I'm playing this game at the moment. I don't dare to give it a higher score cause I'm not even thirty hours in, but I can tell you something... this is what I call epic!!
Edit: Damn!! Forgot about Valkyria Chronicles. A solid 8.5 for me. It could have been much better and it might have been for PSP. I have no way of knowing anyway. |
again the game took me 20 hours? how is it that long!!!
Being in 3rd place never felt so good
Oblivion (7.5/10) - Good but got boring after a while and A.I is terrible. An average RPG with some nice added features such as large amounts of loot and the feeling of adventuring in a large open spaced world.
Fallout 3 (5/10) - Hated it, I didn't find the world believable enough. It was cool to begin with when you escape the vault but as soon as I found out that there was a town a few metres away with a fully grown community I lost interest completely, oh and the fact that everything is so bland looking and the A.I is still as stupid as it was in Oblivion.
Fallout New Vegas (4/10) - Despised it, thought it was everything that I didn't like about Fallout 3 plus more. (Sorry folks!)
Tales of Vesperia (9/10) - Great story, fantastic character development and an active battle system that actually worked well and fluently. Tales of Vesperia is one of my all time favourite RPGs and always will be.
Mass Effect 2 (8/10) - Brilliant story and character development. The decision making never gets old and with the addition to make immediate decisions throughout a cut-scene was a great addition that the original didn't have.
Mass Effect (8.5/10) - Brilliant just like the sequel, I only prefered this one slightly more because of the unlimited ammo (Which was explained how in the codex but for some reason they went back to limited ammo on Mass Effect 2 which didn't make sense???), the Citadel had a better design in my opinion and I prefered the characters in the original Mass Effect.
Blue Dragon (7.5/10) - Very good but the characters did get a bit on my nerves. However I enjoyed the battle system and the overall story, a nice game to check out if any of you haven't.
Demons Souls (9.5/10) - Absolutely brilliant. I do not own this game or a PS3 but it has certainly made me want one. I played this at a friends house and have loved it ever since, the only problem I had with it is that the difficultly can be a bit demoralizing at times.
Dragon Age: Origins (3/10) - I'm sorry but I absolutely hated this game. It was so mediocre, nothing was innovative about it and nothing excited me when playing it. Sorry again if there are any fans.
