huh?  i own spirit track, phantom hourglass and twilight princess

none are the same game.

fyi my games list is way out of date

but you bought a console game on the DS

You really should find a friend that own either of Spirit Track or Phantom Hourglass and try it.

Then you can come back here and facepalm.

IDK man. I think the point he might be trying to make is that just because a series 'home' is on the big boy consoles, it doesn't mean the experience is copy and paste/can't only be a great hand held title... Which is an overarching assumption Nintendo fans seem to make when regarding all psp games. And it's quite annoying and equally false.

I know what you mean.

But it's not just Nintendo fans assumption going on. All parties are guilty of assuption, LOL.

This also drag on for so long that the point of argument is but a blur and you can't give a valid solution anymore.

Don't crucify me Sony fans, but I sorta feel like Sony is sending this thing out to be inevitably slaughtered (but in all fairness, I think 3DS has its flaws too and will be a pretty drastic decline from DS's success)

Besides Sony's coexisting gaming centered phone, now they are saying they are trying to keep the PSP alive at the same time as well? That's THREE Sony gaming handhelds. So not only is Sony going to be facing heavy competition externally with the other smartphones (which by Sony's own admission they are now competing with), but they will be facing competition among their own devices. If one PSP didn't do well in sales (besides Japan, where handheld gaming dominates), I don't see why Sony would think that three would. People who want a cheap gaming centered device with an established library will opt for the PSP, while people who want a multimedia gaming device and a phone will get the Ericson. And NGP will get stuck with the crumbs on the table.

Throw in the rumored price of $400, seemingly more third party support on Nintendo's handheld, and no 3D to help it compete with the 3DS, seems to me this device has very little chance of success.

Of course, as always, it'll boil down to the games, and who knows, if the NGP can get some hugely popular games to call its own, it could push some hardware. But I feel at the very least, they are going to send this thing stumbling out of the gate like the PS3, and will be forced to play catch up the rest of the gen.

God I wish the NGP is like the PS3. Nintendo has never lost the handheld war, they always win, what Sony is doing is trying to give people choices, and enough with the 3D has being some king of advantage already. The NGP is not going to outsell the 3DS, we get it, Sony gets it. What they are trying to do is not only sell 60 million console but offer software that plays well and gives us a console experience on the Go.

The PSP biggest weakness was not the DS, it was its control, it was just bad. DS offered a much better experience, but I feel now, they are going to compete now when it comes to the experience minus the gimmick. I love the Ipod Touch, The Evo, The PSP, but it never gives me the experience, the control I really want want playing. I don't want angry birds, slicing games all day.

NGP will give people like me who don't care for Nintendo games a chance to experience great gaming on the Go for the first time.

I'm...uncertain if Sony get it.

Why would they do something if they have decided that they'll already lose? Sure, it'll make money, but in the consumer's eye the DS is the king, and the 3DS has the brand name behind it. So some of those 150ish million who have a DS will get a 3Ds for similar reasons.

The PSP on the other hand, has the completely different issue. The PSP brand isn't strong, for some (not me), it signifies a lack of effort on Sony's part, lack of long-term interest, an experiment gone wrong and/or brittle. So the NGP to try and take it away from the name (see: N64, GC) wouldn't be a surprise to me...

Now I'm not saying it's bad, and it deserves much success, as it looks awesome. But they need to really pull themselves out of the preverbial hole they're in ATM...

And the 3Ds seems to be doing great portable games for people who don't like Nintendo, looking at its launch 3rd party lineup

Also, I expect a price of $350-$399 at launch, features were (apparently) dropped from the PS3 at launch as well...and the other consoles...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You did, you have two Zelda : one DS and one Wii.

TBH, this completely de-railed the thread and is also completely illogical. One is set in hyrule, the other isn't. One uses horses, one boats, and trains etc.

That's effectively saying that UC3 is the same as UC2, which is the same as UC1. Which is clearly wrong.

Just because they have the same name doesn't mean they are the same game. They aren't "re-makes", or "re-hashes", they are completely new areas with completely new ideas.

If that's identical then so is Nintendogs and COD

Technically the Xperia Play (PlayStation Phone) is only "certified" as a PlayStation device. From what I've seen it doesn't play "new" PlayStation software. There have only been PS1 games shown on it. The chances are there that PSN games will make the jump. But I do not forsee Sony developing a game on Play first, just to port it over to NGP.

They will be separate platforms. Xperia Play, will focus on the Smartphone side of gaming. NGP, is the successor to the PSP and will likely be Sony's melting pot of PS1, PSN, PSP, PS3, NGP and maybe PS2 games on one device. While the PSP will still be out there making money and continuing on to 70 million units sold.

70 million units sold of a non-Nintendo handheld is still amazing.
