For those of you who don't know Activision has decided to enter the action figure realm. Competing with the many action figures on the market and for every boy and girl's attention. So just what are they doing unique to sell these figures, they are making them interact with software.

The game is called Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure but Spyro the dragon himself plays a very small role. In reality Skylanders is about the 30 action figures that interact with the game. Each action figure unlocks the co-responding character in game. So now you can buy an action figure go home and play as that character in the game. But that isn't all each character has unique abilities which all come in handy in the game. Infact your action figure also levels up, you save your progress from the game to the action figure.

You can then take that Action figure over to a friends house and load your character with all his abilities and leveling achievments. This will add according to Activision a completely new element to the game. As seen in the video below.

Now Pokemon cards sold a crap load based on collecting them all. The ability to load your action figure into the game and interact with it would make a new experiance. But in the end will the toys sell? Also if the game only sells 100K could Activision still turn a profit off of the toys? If Activision is able to turn this action figure idea into a success it could make millions.

Do you think kids are going to go for it? Since obviously adults aren't the primary target. But do you think adults may even get into it. What do you think of the sales potential if successful or if it flops? Do you think other companies might copy it could we see more interaction figures from toy companies in the future? Does Activision have what it takes to take on Mattel and the other toy giants.
