Bah, it seems VGC ate another one of my posts. This time I can't "relocate" it and I don't remember what I was saying. I do recall that that I was going to vote for ABC then, but I didn't want to put him at L-1 with prof's investigation still going on, so I was going to vote upon my return. That's where I'm going to put him now, so if there's ever a time to pressure about that "good role" it'd be now.

Reasons: Using future events to explain past behavior, as pointed out at least three times. Although some of his suspicions do make sense, and he may be onto something; most of the them are very illogical and then dropped for the most bizarre of reasons.('X' is too active to be scum while 'Y' hasn't said enough to be scum) Simply put his scumhunting has been nonexistent. Both votes yesterday were bandwagons, and both on players that he had said he was no longer suspicious of. This "Republic as doc" idea was either a confession or meant to be a distraction.
I still don't like this assumption that the kill was because Republic was the doctor. Should ABC flip scum,(and I think it's likely he will) then I'd be more comfortable with that assumption, but not before it. Even then I'd have to wonder if it was an intentional slip to keep attention off of his alien partner(s).
But, has anyone read my post (or a less likely scenario) from a while ago? I could've been biased by already knowing Wonk's flip, but it didn't take long at all to come up with that logic. Given more than 2 days to think about it, I would think it surely had to be thought up. Which means it was(thought up) or... well I can't think of any 3 players(2 sure, but not 3) that wouldn't have been able to make that leap in logic if they were aliens. Getting to the point: I'm still not sure what to think after a flip.

yeah I read both of those, but I didn't entirely agree on the less likely one.
Anyway, I had been thinking about your first postulation; That without noticing the scalpel, the mafia could still have known that he was the doc. This is true, however, I've found some contrary evidence.
Ok, so remember when I asked everyone how surprised they were? I feigned surprise and then called them all suspicious for being surprised. There were three people. So, from a mafia standpoint, I had sprung a trap, making "surprised players" suspicious, while by the virute of myself being in the "not-surprised" made the category I was in the "safe" category.
So, it was safe to know about wonk's role for the remaining 5 players.
I cannot, at this point, think of a reason why what has happened can support your idea that they knew about wonk.
I still need to look at everything that those last 5 people (4 without stefl) said, and then figure out what should have been the most natural reactions.
At this juncture, on some brief investigation, I confess that I am extremely suspicious of trashleg.
