I can see ABC making that level of mistake.  The scalpel thing would have been easier to miss, but with 2 other mafia it seems more probable at least ONE would notice. 

Unless mafia-ABC just said "hey let's kill republic" without giving his reason and they had no objection, or he might have said so and they thought he was wrong but had no better suggestion. 

Of course that's an awful lot of speculation to hang on what we actually know.

Response: Obviously there is more than one mafia, one of the "mafias"  must have noticed the ending of day one.

that completely contradicts what you said earlier. 

Several people did not notice: not you, not heph, not radish. Because of this you killed republic thinking he was the doc, it makes so much sense. You also mention that you thought he was the doc. I can't see any other group of mafia that would both not read the flavor and go after republic.

Well, it's true that I played closely with her in a couple games, but that was a long time ago.  At that time, IIRC when she was scum she was big on talking about she was going all Sherlock Holmes on our asses and going through the thread and etc. etc. 

I think it would be in character to scum-trashleg to do a "oh shit (yes!)" post, but I also think it could just about as likely be genuine ... and as I said my intelligence is outdated.  And then I might just be mistaken.

yes, but you weren't surprised, neither was I. Someone who knew wonk was doc wouldn't have gone after therepublic for being a doc.
