I still think sony some how wins this generation .... but really close to the wii.......360 will finish last in my opinion because the lack of sales in japan and recent mediocre sells in europe

Back to the original post, of coarse the 2 generation limit will be broken this time. I also agree that Microsoft will not carry worldwide sales, so that leaves only Sony and Nintendo. Both have already won 2 console generations. Only Sony has a shot at threepeat though.
As for this gen, numbers point to Wii, and I would like to see Nintendo continue to do well.
Ultimately all 3 systems will do well...

actually the gamegear did really decent against the gameboy not sure of th actual numbers but i think it was closer then what the psp is to the ds. the features ont eh wii itself has alot more functionality then the ps3 features cause who really cares bout blu ray? no body without a hdtv. and i know alot of people not into it and not wanting to switch their entire library of movies over again from vhs to dvd to BR? cmon think bout it people are still changin over to dvd why change again so soon? they wont that is why the ps3 will not suceed as a blu ray player.

Most analysts estimate that HDTV adoption will break the 50% barrier in North America in late 2009 or early 2010, and the majority of gamers buy a videogame system for less than $200, so for the next 24 months (or so) the Wii has essentially no competition for the majority of gamers. In this time it will build a commanding lead, leverage this lead to gain a ton of third party support, and effectively 'cock-block' any comeback attempts from Sony. In 2011 Nintendo will use inexpensive technology (for the time) to produce a console which is noticeably more powerful than the PS3, incorporates a (then inexpensive) HD-Disc format, and enhances the user interface they designed for the Wii to produce an inexpensive console for the masses (who were now adopting to HD at a rapid rate). |

I bought a game gear. What a waste of $100. I still regret it.

I loved my Game Gear :) (actually, STILL love, since it still works perfectly)
Only thing is, when I play it, I use the AC adapter--that thing eats batteries like a fat kid eats chocolate.

You do know that what eventually became the PSOne was a Nintendo and Sony joint venture that was to be the SNES-CD? Nintendo pulled out after Sony wanted to take all copyrights to the games that were created on it. Eventually, Sony released it on their own after a few revisions. And yes Nintendo won the orginal console wars against Sega in the third and fourth-gens in the late 80s and 1990s.
There never was a console war until micrsoft came in. Sony never cometed against nintendo and vice versa, it was microsoft that screwed sony.

Before people react to this, go into his profile and look at his age.
This kid was still learning how to do multiplication when the PS2, GCN, and Xbox had their respective launches. He's too young to understand.
Give him a break. =)

Microsoft didn't screw Sony until Sony decided to make a machine that competed directly against them. If Sony had made a PS3 like the PS2 (which was the least powerful of last generation) they'd be kicking MS ass now.
