Many are pointing out these days that Pokemon Black and White are being released on the same handheld as Diamond and Pearl. Others note that Black and White are coming right at the end of the prime DS life cycle. This gets me wondering if it would be advantageous for Nintendo and GameFreak to release Pokemon Grey on DS, or whether they should make it a unique version by releasing it with upgraded visuals on 3DS?

The 3D effects found in Black and White could be translated into the 3DS pretty easily from the looks of it. For the first time in any Pokemon generation the first two versions would be released on a seperate console then the final version. I can think of some advantages to having it released on DS as well as some for 3DS.

What are your thoughts could Pokemon Grey be coming to 3DS, or will GameFreak release it on DS?

I think it's very possible. It would kinda be weird releasing that game on DS, considering by the time it comes out both the 3DS and the NGP will be released. On the other hand Nintendo may want to support the DS a little longer, case in which Pokemon Grey could be it's swan song.

Or will it be on Wii ?

After all the DS logo is (mostly, ok) black and white and the Wii logo is... Yeah you got it :D.

I think it depends on the legs of the DS and Black/White following the launch of the 3DS.  Emerald was launched in Europe a good 6 months after the DS and it saw good sales, however if it had been launched a year or 18 months later I think it would be a completely different story.

Pokemon Grey will IMO be likely released in the second half of 2012 for Japan.  Therefore, I think it should go to the 3DS.  But I wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't go and stick with the DS.

I think that it would be a great move for nintendo to launch it as the NGP is picking up steam, pokemon is a portable killer app. The fact that a 3DS Pokemon game has already been announced also adds evidence toword the game coming to the 3DS.

Like Zarx said it would be a wise choice. the NGP has been getting quite alot of antention since its anouncment. This would be exactualy what nintendo need to get the limelight back on the 3DS.

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

With Nintendogs, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and probably Brain Training just around the corner I don't think the 3DS really needs a Pokemon game quickly at all. And the NGP hasn't any licence which is even close to be as strong as the one I have listed. There is no need to hurry at all to release a Pokemon on 3DS imo.

That is a very biased way of looking at things. The iPhone doesnt have any realy strong released and yetb ehere we are in 2011 with boitht he DS and PSP being beaten by the iPhone week in week out. Its not all about alot more than just havign soeme strong series.

I am not sayign 3DS or NGP are goignt to win. Because that would just be foolish thing to say this early on. wait until both systems have had all there games and all there featurs anounced before makigng asumptions.

How is that biased to say that all the licenses I listed are much stronger that anything Sony has announced for the NGP? It's based on actual sales so that's not my opinion but pretty much a fact. Perhaps COD could sell as much as one of those games -that doesn't seem likely because it's probably a port of a game that belongs to a genre which is more successful on consoles for obvious reasons- but even if that's the case that doesn't make the 3DS in need to have more big games announced. Seriously those 4 licences are amazing sellers and Nintendo even have one year without competition so what would be the reason to rush the release of a game like Pokemon? Having shortages ? The Wii needs one much more than the 3DS this year and the DS has huge installed base that would make it sell much better. So for me it will be probably DS but maybe -and hopefully- Wii, not 3DS.

Also I do'nt think you can really compare the NGP with the iPhone: not really the same market... Also if Nintendo wants to compete with Apple for the casual gamers a game like Pokemon is certainly not the right answer...

No it won't, 'cos then it would be an entirely new game. Wouldn't make sense.
