I would say this is one of the least agreeable lists so far.
One person's opinion is hardly grounds for a statement of general approval. Why do people need to declare one list better than others? Its all opinion anyways.

If anyone read the reviews i gave links to all the games got 9/10 except for HL2: ep2 which got 10/10 =] which is widely deserved for it being the greatest game made so far.

PC games are just as valid as console games, get over it. That said, I don't totally agree with this list...but it's not a bad list. A lot of FPSs were released this year...lots of franchises...it's not surprising that a lot of them would make it onto a top ten list of the year. If you don't like FPSs, then play something else...it's one of the most popular gaming genres right now, so you'll just have to deal with it.

Gotta love mod smirk responces. Is it that hard to disagree with having PC along with consoles. As someone mentioned is just an opinion. This is how thread get derailed with smart ass comments. Glad you think PC games as just as valid as consoles games but I disagree, get over it?

I just think the PC is at a different level then consoles. Similar to comparing rts, mmos' and fps PC has been doing it for far longer with better controls. I don't think is fair to compare lets say the graphics of crysis vs any console game since you can buy the latest and greatest video card and make the console game look crappy. Similar when playing an rts it is alot easier to control then consoles etc. I have nothing against PC as I play city of heroes on a regular basis and tried all the latest game though crysis just made my PC seem so freaking old it was hilarious. Another thing is PC games get patches and updates ect though I guess console games are starting to the same. Bottomline I believe PC can stand on their own and don't need to be compared to console games because quite frankly a PC can do a hell of alot more especially if you have the latest and greatest.
Another list.
Do people still care about Top Ten lists from random places anymore?

There is actualy a major difference. Bit-tech isnt a random place. Bit-tech is one of the MOST RESPECTED tech websites in the world.

But it isn't a videogame website. Its like Times top ten videogames, they are a hugely respected source but they just aren't qualified for videogames.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it is a random place that many people probably don't care about.
I prefer Anandtech and Ars Technica too (which are also random places).

| Garcian Smith said: This seriously shows how much of a sham "gaming journalism" is. The gaming press is heavily skewed toward shooters. Note that this list doesn't even acknowledge games like Rock Band, Persona 3, and God Of War 2 that deserve a place in any "Best of 2007" list - especially over Polished Shooters #2739-2741. |
Couldn't agree more. God of War 2 being overlooked is kind of expected because it came out so early this year (not that that justifies it being overlooked. But Persona 3 definitely needs more attention and was arguably the most interesting RPG of the year. Similarly, UT3 and Crysis have no place on a top ten. One is nothing more than a prettier version of 2k4 with a few weapon tweaks. The other is pretty as hell, but a very straightforward and conventional FPS. I could see Stalker being on a top-ten, especially for PC, but only towards the bottom.
Only people who like to gush about x-platform being better than platform y. Personally I think any top-ten list is inherently flawed when comparing something across multiple genres and, in this case, video game systems.
This is just so wrong.
What fighting game is better than God of War 2 that hit PC this year? Or if that counts as a legendary franchise how about an RPG as inventive as Persona 3? Hell, what about a side-scrolling game better than Odin Sphere? This year has had plenty of games like that, and the past is littered with even more. The fact that you say only "legendary franchises" can beat a PC game makes it clear that thats the only sorts of console games you've played. Try expanding your horizons before you make such sweeping generalizations.
In a similar vein, I dont see how you can take bit-tech reviews seriously. They've always come across as throw away article, to me at least, and I think the review of Crysis makes that clear. They seem to grade hard on technical accomplishment, and little on originality.
