Forums - Gaming - Transformers. Why did no one roll out to get this???

Im bringing up another game that i felt did not get its just due.  This time its an Hd game though. War for Cybertron, the one actually decent Transformers game in... well ever and it didnt do to hot. WTF happened??? This game was actually good oh sure the campaign was short and the environment was murky, but it was Cybertron and the story was at least coherent, unlike some big games ive played recently. THe online was actually pretty good with different classes and whay have you (could have had more maps)and they had a cool co-op survivor mode. The only thing i thought sucked was their was no local co-op. that was some BS. What really upsets me is that the damn movie tie ins did better, those games genuinely sucked and we all know that they were made to cash in on little kids who get caught in the hype of the lastest dose of Bayhem. It came out in the summer there wasnt no big game around its release that I can think of, not like S&P star successor would stifle its sale. IMHO this game had the makings of a hit, good online, gameplay was decent, you shot things, story was like Transformers Begins, hell it was better than the movies. I could see why the Wii game failed, Activision straight up ripped Wii owners off with that, but HD gamers what happened???

one reason

ACTIVISON

even tho i dislike all things transformers, why buy such an small game and be loaded down with constant DLC of stuff that should of been in the game in the first place

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

better idea... a Beast Wars game.   two reasons...colours...interesting characters.

frankly i dont think saying "its cybertron"  is any sort of real excuse for the game.

Agree with you there the Beast Wars and it's sequel are the only transformer shows I ever found interesting

Well, I was almost going to buy it. I loved the 80's cartoon and had almost all G1 Transformers. I was waiting for a good G1 game and even imported Tatakai  (PS2) from Japan.

But there were some reasons, why I refrained from buying it.

1) Short Campaign with only like 5 minutes of Cutscenes per fraction. If a buy a transformers game I want to see them way longer.

2)Online-Mode... If a game has an online mode it is most of the time just not worth buying anymore. As stated in point 1) my main interest - the story- is just going to suffer heavily in most cases. I am simply no online gamer.

3) Activision

Front Mission has suffered a similar fate...unfortunately.

i think its because of the 80's look of the transformers. The newer versions of the characters reminds people of the movies, 80's ones dont. I felt like buying the revenge of the fallen one and i was given the first movie's game i really didnt have any desire to get the new one even though i knew it was leaps and bounds better than the other ones.

EVERY GAMERS WORST NIGHTMARE...THE TANGLING CABLES MONSTER!

       Coffee is for closers!

@mchaza  there have only been two DL packs I admit the first one should have been in already, but alot of games that have done better are way bigger offenders of this, like Bioshock 2

Cybertron is what Cybertron is, you cant really change that without changing the fundamentals of the G1 universe. its not like all the environments looked the same, we coulda had a sequel take place on Earth

@alphachris  its more than five minutes for each campaign, dont know where your getting this, but yeah its short overall, i can see how that would be a turn off, but there are games with good campaigns AND online. Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2, GE. its just few and far in between, seems post COD world devs are focusing too much on online

oh almost forgot about Transformers Armada for PS2, that was actually a good one too.

I got it from Gamefly and I was extremely underwhelmed.  I sent it back after about a day.  The multi-player demo on Xbox Live was fun but I couldn't get into the real game.  This, coming from a child of the 80's and a huge fan of the comics, toys, and cartoons.

I liked it...beat the decepticons campaign.

Who knows? But it must not have done that poorly because they're making a sequel.
