Forums - Sony - Big differences between PSP models?

I already had a PSP-3000, but unfortunately, I sold mine a year ago. Due to the great games that are released and will be released (I already ordered MGS: Peace Walker, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Valkyria Chronicles II and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep), I would like to get a PSP again. A friend offers me his PSP-1000 (the fat one) for 40-50 Euros, but I don't know whether there are big differences between the PSP models or not (concerning quality, comfort, battery life). So should I buy the old one, buy a new one (although I'm not enthusiastic about paying more than 100 Euros for a handheld that might got replaced soon by its successor) or is there still the possibility that the PSP2 might support UMDs?

Thanks in advice

As far as I can remember... the 1k doesn't have a mic or a possiblity to connect it to a TV... also, it's bigger and has an inferior screen. The best PSP, IMO, is the 2k.

I want to use my PSP ONLY for games, so I wouldn't mind if a connection to the TV or a mic would be missing. The quality of the screen seems to differ then? Well... that's not what I wanted to hear ;(

It's not like the 1k is shitty, the later models are just... better. I'd get the 1k if I were you, mainly because PSP2 is coming!

There really is no difference, except for the weight. For me, it made a huge difference because the 1k is like a brick lol. The 3k feels like it doesn't weight anything. But if you don't care go for it, thats a good deal.

I got the chance to compare them directly ( 1000 and 2000 models ) , and the difference is noticable , 1000's display has lower quality especially when it come to colors , 2000 screen gives you nice colors and depth , but 40 euros is fairly cheap , I'd say go for it

btw  Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep rocks , one of  the best on the psp ... if not the best :)

Any major differences between PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 besides the microphone?

The biggest differences came with the 2K

64MB of ram instead of 32MB. The extra ram gave a new option to cache game data as you play. This really improved load times.

Form factor, of course. It's much lighter but if you have bigger hands, 1K would be more comfortable.

Everything else from that point were minor when it comes to games. In some aspects, the 3000 had a worse screen as opposed to the 3K.

The screen of PSP 3000 is a little more colorful.
