have you checked the file size? maybe it didnt finish copying the complete file.

the only thing i can hope for now is sony fixing it on a later update.

 umm.. theres a .divx extension.. since when.. divx is a codec in a codec i thought ie a AVi file encoded with divx/xvid. if you changed extensions change them back asap.

Pretty cool, the couple of files I threw on the hard drive played without any problems. Three Divix and one WMV, it's going to be worth it to take a chunk of my external hard drive and format it to FAT32 now.

no worries, i was just trying it out, i copied some videos to my flash drive and tried
em on the ps3, after they didnt work i tried changing extensions, even though i change the extensions they still work on my laptop, my ps3 still only plays th first 5 secs though.

after that i just deleted the files of my flashdrive, so sorry ssj12 but its too late for me,
i can no longer change back the extensions. ='(....

My newer DivX and Xvid files play but my older ones don't. Looks like partial compatibility. Possibly older DivX codecs aren't supported? Although it could be resolutions or audio codecs, who knows.

Also, I can stream the movies from my computer without a hitch. Are none of you guys going the media server route?

And that's new too : while you are surfing your 'real' theme is now part of the background and not only the blue 'wall'.Additional to that i think most sites are now loading a bit faster.

Everything I've put on it has worked flawlessly so far (10 movies, 10 episodes) all in .AVI. I will be upgrading my HDD to 160GB in a month so this will save me a lot of time and space.
