Infinity Ward combating Modern Warfare PS3 hacks

Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has told Modern Warfare 2 players that the company hasn't given up the fight against PS3 hackers intent on ruining the game for legitimate players.

The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 has recently been overrun by exploits and hacks, and Infinity Ward said earlier this month that it can't rectify the problems until Sony addresses PS3's recent security breach.

But that doesn't mean the Call of Duty creator is standing still on the matter, Bowling said in an update on the studio's forums.

"I just left a security meeting with the coders here at Infinity Ward where we discussed a lot of solutions," he wrote. "I feel good about the meeting, but of course I can't go into detail on the possible solutions we discussed as we don't want to give out any information that could potentially hinder the security any further.

"The key factor I want you to know is, that while any update takes time, we are looking to make the process as quick as possible and nothing is being left unattended."

Bowling added that Infinity Ward's "main focus right now" is on "preventing hackers from affecting legitimate players" and "addressing users who have already been affected".

Users who encounter "inappropriate players" were also advised to report them to Sony via the link below.

Why even update this garbage game now? They should really just leave it to die like they have for the past year (no updates at all) and focus on MW3. 

Im surprised it took them this much time, but one thing that it annoyed me the most is the glitch of the stupid rock found in the map from the picture above, so many campers!!!

Why the hell would they update it? Has any COD game been updated after a year and a new one is out?

Its activisions fault and their property therefore its their call if the game gets any updates. The only reason this is getting a update now is because the shit really hit the fan and they dont want bad publicity about their games. Seeing as how the game is still selling for full 60 dollars in some places.

I understand what your saying but they have to do this otherwise people will stop buying their games.  I know MW2 was pretty annoying before with perks like Commondo, Dangerclose, NoobTube, but it was still playable.

Yeah I just wish the shit with Activison/Infinity Ward hadn't happened because rumour has it they were going to do a patch for One Man Army Danger Close and with lucky maybe even commando.

With Black Ops having already been out 3 months there doesn't seem to be much point to updating a 15 month old game that not nearly as many people play.

I think plenty of people still play, somewhere in the region of ~10000 on X360, not sure about PS3. But the updates for both COD4 and 5 were still rolling in even though the Modern Warfre 2 has been released, so you're a bit harsh on Activision, even though I think they're a bunch of Prats too, they do update their games every now and then.

Its a 15 month old game that people are still buying and its probably the second most active online game on PS3.

I logged on yesterday to test how things were going, as in how many out of a certain amount of game I found with people with hacks, exploits or basic cheats. out of the 5 games I entered I had 1 and a half good games...but anyway back to my point, down the bottom it listed amount of players online at that time and it was 60,000 or so. this is European servers.
