Whatever it is, it won't be enough.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were near masterpieces, and greatly under-performed compared to the quality put in.

However, if pre-orders are ~65k with 1 week left of pre-orders to go, I would imagine first week will be around 110-120k....Certainly low given that Blue Dragon did ~83k on an almost non-existent user base.

ioi said preorders were over 100k. Also the first shipment has already sold out (new shipment coming) and it's estimated to be 120k.

That's good news no?

120k shipment with 100k pre-orders sounds fishy to me...

Amazon Japan is Out of Stock.

3DS Friend Code:   4596-9822-6909

Given the hype and the huge communication over the game, I'd say it won't be more than the preorders 10/15%. I think around  100k.

If The Last Story does 120k first week, compared to other "major" new IP JRPGs on consoles this gen... Famitsu numbers...

  • Resonance of Fate (PS3) 125,868
  • The Last Remnant (360) 102,107
  • Infinite Undiscovery (360) 86,708
  • Blue Dragon (360) 82,286
  • Xenoblade (Wii) 79,163
  • Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) 77,694
  • Nier (PS3) 64,818
  • Lost Odyssey (360) 60,376
  • Eternal Sonata (360) 43,592
  • Demon's Souls (PS3) 36,794
  • Resonance of Fate (360) 29,145
  • Nier (360) 12,783

Reckon it'll be second?

Depends how quick that 2nd shipment hits shelves.  If it doesn't make it Saturday, then 120k is the ceiling.  Looking forward though, I don't see any other major New IP home console JRPGs that are likely to do better though either.

Nintendo should give Xenoblade a 2nd push with a budget rerelease.  That sort of thing did wonders for PS3 RPGs like Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls.

They probably will. I also see it getting a slight boost due to there being a promotion in the box. 120,000 people today will see that leaflet and think "why not? This game is good!" and get that as well. So maybe a good week...

2nd shipment is tomorrow.

Why not just release a bigger first shipment then? It would make more sense and maintain sales. I doubt all those people who wanted the game today but were told it was "sold out" will check again tomorrow...

Oh!  Well then, I think it should probably be able to beat out ROF then. :)
