Vanguard all the way!  You'll feel like a total badass.  There's nothing more fun than using Heavy Charge on a enemy, recover your shield, and blast their face off with a shotgun.

Soldier is for punk-ass newbsprites who can't work their way around a Y button!

Yeah I'm talking to you, newbsprite! Gonna go play some more easy mode with your easy class, newbsprite?

Sorry, but I can't hear the mewling of the weak-sauce dual-analogue auto-aim folks over the glory that is the Hardcore Master Race control scheme.

doesn't matter whatever you will choose you will be shooting 99% of time as powers tend to be waste of time.

Just make sure you have a class with access to at least SMGs.

Hot-keys, then.

More seriously speaking, auto-aim isn't actually a boon to Vanguards since it pulls one's aim toward the chest area rather than the head, which is where you want to aim with every single gun except for the Eviscerator. Not true with Soldiers, since the raddest assault rifle (the Revenant; don't say the Mattock, because it is more powerful but not nearly as rad) is best used at point blank against the chest.

Seriously, though.

Soldier is easy mode and for chumps who can't work their way around powers.

@Zlejedi:

1. All classes have access to "at least" SMGs, assuming you think of assault rifles as being upgrades to SMGs (they are, mostly).

2. Powers are only a waste of time if you suck.

I don't know which class I took on the 360 version, I had a charge attack and pull attack and charge was useless in my experience(due to which I never upgraded that shit), pull was much better. I played as a soldier in the ME 2 demo for the PS3 and it was a lot more entertaining with the sniper rifle so early on in the game.

 Charge is another skill that's only useless if you're terrible. The idea behind it is that it puts you into melee range, which doubles the damage from your shotgun, and more than that it refills your shield when you use it. Its cooldown is also notoriously short, especially if you take Champion.

It's easily the most effective power in the game outside of maybe Adrenaline Rush, especially on lower difficulties.

Both of my ME1 playthroughs were as a Soldier.  My ME2 playthrough is Vanguard.  I'm glad people are saying Vanguard because I always felt like I was missing out on something.  I didn't vote because I haven't tried enough of the other classes to give an informative opinion.

Does veteran difficulty count as a lower difficulty? The one that's recommended for the first playthrough? Coz that's the difficulty I played through and I found charge shit. The shotgun was lame as well to my play-styles. I preferred the smg and the cannon pistol(or whatever its called). And Assault rifle of course. I got the sniper too late to care about it.

Yes, Veteran counts as a lower difficulty - the higher difficulties are Hardcore (which I never played) and Insanity (which I've beaten with every class but Engineer).

You found Charge shit because you weren't using it correctly, ditto shotguns. That's all there is to it. Charge is there to make shotguns more effective and refill your shields while increasing your ability to move around the battlefield.
