From what I saw around and described a few posts above, "shortages" or "tight supply" should concern mostly 360 plus Kinect bundles. This would also explains large availability of standalone Kinects and sufficient of 360, quite obviously people willing to buy both will wait for the bundle to be available again, unless retailers do like some of the online ones I checked are doing with Wii and Balance Board, selling the separed SKUS also bundled with a nice discount, a little bit more expensive than the official bundle, but a lot cheaper than the two items sold separately.

well,Kinct console bundles always in stock but 250/4GB 360 always out of stock in amazon

The exact opposite from here! So maybe the shortages or tight supplies wouldn't have been a problem so big, but they became so as MS must not have predicted correctly which SKUs would have sold better in some zones. The same seems to have happened to GT5 bundles and some Move peripjherals or kits, while what happened to standalone Balance Board (overstocked, while the bundles are sold out) in the regions where Nintendo started bundling it with Wii was just unavoidable.

Around the Network

The last two times I went grocery shopping in the past month, Target had a small shelf full of Kinect standalone kits.

They generally don't leave a lot of console stock on the floor as they're placed in a small locked cabinet under the demo kiosk, but they always have 360 consoles, if not every current SKU (since there are currently 4 and the cabinet holds maybe 8 boxes at most).

My general impression is that 360 hardware is still moving well for the post holiday season, but Kinect is very far from experiencing Wii-like shortages from 2-3 years ago.

They go for under or about MSRP on Ebay which reflects this personal impression.

San Francisco Market Best Buy, 250gb Bundles are sold out.  4Gb Bundles just came back in stock this week for 18 out of 22.  19 out of 22 are sold out of Consoles.  21 out of 22 have Kinect in stock.
