Forums - Gaming - Will PSP2 give us free internet?

Hear me out.

Let's assume the 3G connection comes free and specially use for connectivity such as online play and games/mucis d/l.

Now, people can crack that open and convert it into an "internet connection".

What do you think?

If they do it, it'll probably like the case of iTouch with Apple, where you can pay something like £10 to have 3G on your iTouch, if it has Wifi then that's good. Although I struggle to think whats the point of using a handheld if you have access to the wifi lol, so you're likely to be in your own house or like in Mcdonalds or something ._.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Is unlikely I'll ever take my 3DS out the house, except when going to stay at another house for something.  These images Nintendo paint of sitting on park benches, the tube, bus stops...not likely over here, would be cries across the nation of people gtting mugged for 3DS's.

Lol I think it's ill advised to take your 3DS/PSP2 outside the first 2 years of it's release. You WILL get mugged, and your handheld sold on Ebay for like 3x its price x)

No

When they said 3G support is that it will most likely support an network card or USB internet stick (or both) or will have built in 3G network card that will have to be activated by certain telco companies sony partners with. But you will have the ability to connect to your own wifi or the many hotspots (free) wifi located in many cities around the world.

I dont know where you would get the notion of Free from the simple announcement of 3G capability

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

My guess is that it will feature WiFi an optional 3g connection (with a monthly fee).

Overall i won't mind 3g access requiring a reasonable monthly fee as long as i get online games/etc from wifi and that it dosn't impact on PSP2's launch price (anything over $199 is a mistake imo)

Yes and no. At $249 Nintendo is giving SONY a chance to gain a lot of market share in the handheld sector assuming SONY takes advantage of Nintendo's high price by releasing PSP2 for at least $50 cheaper, with a nice launch line-up and good advertising.

I'm wondering that myself if we'll get the 3G for free or if it will have some sort of a fee tied to it, I'm guessing a fee or atleast a catch, guess we'll have to wait and see, if it's not free it better have wifi though

It's better not having a 3G connection(will increase costs).

I will not use anyway....rarely i will take psp2 out of my house.

If you play 3DS or PSP2 in the Bus here in Brazil, probably in 5 minutes there will be a favela boy stealing from you and telling "give me you discman, playboy!"
