Forums - Gaming - Conduit 2 vs. Crysis 2!!! battle of the FPSs and others

March 22 is going to be an insane day, not only are we getting the oft-delayed Crisis2 but Conduit 2 is there, US is getting that new Dissidia and PS3 is getting another HD collection with Tomb Raider.

On the side you have the hotly debated and anticipated sequel to one of PCs most acclaimed shooters of the past decade, made by FPS masters Crytek. On the other side you have a sequel to a game that got good coverage was hyped got decent reviews but sold poorly and are developed by (IMHO) a dev team that have still yet to prove themselves, but by all accounts it looks like they are putting more effort into this one(motion+) confirms this.

Now it would be unfair to pit an exclusive against a multiplat, sure one could argue that the combined HD install is about the same as the Wii, but that would be ignoring the PC crowd and lets be real here half the people who own Wii dont care about FPSs anyway, they want there WiiSports and Fit. So to keep things fair and interesting I wonder will Conduit be able to outsell Crysis on at least ONE platform??? Im leading toward no, but I could be wrong. Maybe Wii only owners will give this game more of a chance. maybe multi plat owners will choose Conduit over Crysis, HD owners might just be sick of FPS, maybe they wont buy either and just pick up there PSPs to play Dissidia instead. (which is only retailing for $30 by the way) who knows

Sorry i couldnt read your post yet, when i stop laughing that hard cuz of your headline, ill post something useful, promised! xD

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

It's a disgrace for Crysis 2 to be compared to The Conduit 2 quite frankly.

HVS never made a great (or good for that matter) game so there's no rational reason to be hyped for one of their games.

@crystalchild I try to lighten the mood. ill take that as a compliment

@boustros  thats not really fair, alot of people (WII only owners especially) are hyped for Conduit 2. Me personally im taking a wait and see approach, just like the original. The only reason I compare the two is because they are both FPSs releasing on the SAME day.

That in itself is strange because Conduit 2 was supposed to be released on Feb 15, same day as Mvs.C3. Now they push it back to a day when another large game is coming. If I were them I would push this baby back to the summer where releases are smaller so they have no competition. On a side note I could have sworn Crysis 2 was releasing a week earlier, did EA push it back to the 22nd just to screw with Conduit2?? If so thats f***ed up EA, Sega gotta eat too!!

Joke thread.

I understand where you are coming from with the comparaison but let's be honest here, the only reason some people are hyping The Conduit 2 is because it's an exculsive game. That is not very rational in my book.

The game might still end up okay but like Crytek previously said, "You can’t take a 60 rated team and make a 90 rated game. [...] You don’t make a 90 plus rated game with a 30 rated bush in the game."

I agree with the first post and the first part of this post. The Crysis 2 vs Conduit 2 comparison is really a bit redundant. Crytek consistently have made critically acclaimed FPS' and have experienced mass growth (aquiring studios and having multiple teams) since the original Far Cry whilst HVS have only made a single FPS which was average at best (although some good ideas and good implementation of Wii controls).

However, I disagree with the second part of your post. As the team gain more experience with the FPS genre and by learning from past experiences and mistakes (as long as they stay profitable) they can eventually go on to become a 90 team throwing out top titles.

I'm not mad that it did, but February might have been better to stick with knowing the 3DS is gonna  own March/April attention.

The more time the better. Hopefully Sega promotes it again this time; they did not do so for Vanquish.
