Forums - Sales - Best Buy Gets Wii Kiosk

I took my brother to Best Buy to get Christmas presents for the rest of my family, and noticed something I have never seen anywhere but Gamespot before, they had Wii Kiosk with SMG playing. I was talking to a best buy worker(he was buying a Wii when I went to Best Buy to watch the Wii explosion) as he did know where it came from but was pretty pumped, he was planning on geting SMG(I told him about Zak and Wiki and Metriod too ; p) he asked his boss when I was playing it a bit, and his boss said they had just set it up this morning!! I don't know if other places have been getting these but I think it is huge, Kiosk are the best way to get someone who knows little about games to buy good ones.

I think this is very important to selling games to casuals because most casuals don't buy their games a Gamespot, they go to Walmart, Best Buy, Toy's R Us and Target. I still don't know if Target has them yet, but I was glad to see this. This will help SMG sales and beef up its legs.

Plus Wii is actually letting people play a REAL games, not some demo or crappy Motocross game...

Im pretty sure the Wii kiosk has been in my local Best Buy for months. At any rate, if they are putting them in MORE Best Buys, that is good news. =]

yea I was not too sure if they had, I kinda assumed mine was not the first in the whole country(unless today it was a country wide thing)

I don't know about the rest of you, but there have been 360, PS3, and Wii kiosks for awhile in my area. A few places even have couches and armchairs for people to sit on and play games on a 50" flat-screen TV. The last time I went to one of the Best Buys, no one was sitting because they were all standing and playing GHIII.

yeah, is saw these new kiosks on an EBGames yesterday. Kinda nice. Makes playing a little harder though, since you are restricted.

Wii Kiosks are really a different animal than PS3/360/PS2/PS1/N64/GC/Xbox kiosks. The controller makes such a difference.

When we had a kiosk at my Toys R Us, kids would literally just drop the controller when their parents told them to come at least twice a day. This didn't include any possible chucking and throwing, which I'm sure happens on occassion in some places.

In short, the kiosks for Wii are just hard to do. The best kiosks for the Wii I've seen have been much more expensive ventures: supervised multiplayer Wii with an actual Nintendo rep (or mall rep, perhaps, or whoever is set on duty to supervise) watching over and making sure everything is being done properly.

There were no restrictions at Best Buy, I could have beaten the game if I wanted too... collected 3 Stars... it was sooo fun!!!

@Bot, they had them hooked up to this Y adapter thing and it had a shorter cord, so if I droped it it would not hit the ground, it also had a protective sleave on it. It was, I did not have to give them my DL like a gamestop or anything

Wal-mart has one, i played it for alil bit when i wasn't playing rock band last night! they put it in the garden section so that could be why people haven't seen it yet.
