BioWare: Mass Effect 2 "A Rare Find"

Either they didn't release quite enough copies or it's a really hot item...or both.

Mass Effect 2 launched for the PlayStation 3 this week and apparently, retailers are already finding it difficult to keep in stock. According to a recent BioWare Twitter update, ME2 is selling pretty darn well, and they apologize for making it hard to find. The Tweet reads:

"Mass Effect 2 is now a rare find! Sorry everyone - post in our forums and let us know if you come across some copies."

So, if you haven't yet picked it up but plan to this weekend, bear in mind that you might have to search around a bit. With BioWare apologizing, it's almost as if EA really didn't produce enough copies; we remember seeing boxes of ME2 for the Xbox 360 stacked around GameStop stores when the title released early last year. It's probably worth the search, though, especially if you're into sci-fi RPGs.

Our review should be ready to go very soon. I've been playing it for the past few days. I won't be dropping any hints now; just pay attention this weekend...

Probably this, but it's still nice to see a quality game selling as much as possible...

I hope they shipped 500K and this proved to be not enough. Though I think it's more like they shipped 150-200K. Still good to be able to say "ME2 is hard to find" on first week. It's free advertising, and it'll get PS3 gamers interested. Should ensure some solid sales over the coming weeks, or at least once they get a new shipment distributed.

I wonder what their break even point is, i.e. that doing the port is not just profitable, but indicates ME3 will do decent sales on PS3 as well.

Wow. From never having bought an EA game on any console I've owned, to buying 2 in one year (Dragon Age and ME2), EA made a smart call acquiring Bioware.

Good to see a great game getting extra legs, even if it means losing exclusivity, there are games where you just don't give a shit whether you can use it as fanboy ammunition, and just want to see it do well. Although I am not sure I am too happy to see the EA profiting from this, either this or MS, both are big companies so small difference.

got my copy at launch! just got the jisticar & the assassin!!!

if I could just through my anecdotal evidence, ME 1&2 were always the games my advent PS3 friends always wanted on their system but would never really admit it, no surprise they were estatic about ME3 coming to the PS3. Most of them got it on release day as well, now I'm constantly getting messages via PSN asking what decisions I  made through-out the game since I also own ME1&2 on my 360.

tempted to rebuy it just to support bioware and good games in general, but I don't know that I would really play it that much, as have like 20 different Shepard saves on my xbox that I'm going to have to go through mass effect 3 with...
