Forums - Nintendo - its the 25th anniversary of Metroid AND! the Legend of Zelda this year

so nintendo honoured its biggest franchise last year with a super mario 25th anniversary edition of the super mario allstars game. Well guys, this year marks the 25th anniversaries for another two of nintendos best loved franchises, of course the legend of zelda and metroid. Will nintendo do anything to celebrate these amazing series' like they did with Mario?

I think it would be great to do a collection of metroids 1 2 3 and 4(fusion) in a nice box for the wii, that way even if you allready have the nes and snes games downloaded you still get a few ones extra that havent been available on the wii. also through in a plush Metroid or something please :D

For Zelda I think it would be nice to see a special collectors edition of skyward sword for the anniversary. throw in a history booklet, ochestrated soundtrack and a collectible of some sort and im sold

Of course, in reality, nintendo will probably do nothing to celebrate these franchises, however to celebrate Metroids big 25th i have purchased a copy of the original metroid on NES :). I hope nintendo does something to really show how much effort and love has gone into the franchises

What would you guys like to see ninty do for the anniversaries?

Around the Network

i dont think they will do anything for Metroid, its a pretty small franchise. Zelda might get something, maybe they'll re-realease the Zelda collectors edition GC game for the Wii, and maybe package it similar to Super Mario 25th anniversary collection, with music and a booklet

I'd like a rerelase of the Zelda Collectors Edition since I still need to get my hand on a copy of that. I'd hope with GCN and/or Classic Controller support.

Not so sure about Metroid as while its a "big" Nintendo IP, its never been a super seller. Only a few million per game vs the near or over 10 million Zelda and Mario get. I am sure Zelda will get something around the same time as the next Zelda game releases.
