God, maybe I'm just not good enough to beat Challenge 6.

I went and beat 1-8 (the first fight with bogey) on Hard just to cool off.

Man F bogey.

Which wave of the challenge do you have problems with?

Well 5, naturally.

Son of a bitch dodges my rockets a lot. Thinking of laying off those altogether and just unloading with the homing laser.

Ok... try hitting the blue one with the rocket launcher when he's doing one of those attacks in which he stays still (you know... when he fires a lot of those purple lasers or whatever they are :P I think he will always use that attack while the red one is still around... the red one will use the big laser attack instead... but when you kill one of them they can use any attack).

There should be an upgrade item around if you didn't use it (you shouldn't use it :P). When you run out of rocket launcher missiles, grab the upgrade to get another 3 shots. Use them on the blue bogey and, if you still didn't kill him, start using the Lock-On laser (try to only shoot him, don't shoot the red one until he's dead). When you kill the blue one, he'll drop a rocket launcher... use the 3 shots on the red one but try to only use them when you're sure you'll hit him, shoot him with something else if you're not sure.

By the way, there's a way to dodge stuff easier. Roll while pressing the boost button (it's L2 on PS3) and when you see sam's about to boost, roll again and repeat (roll, boost, roll, boost, roll, boost, etc). You can move a lot faster that way (while letting your suit cool off since it doesn't deplete it) but it's a bit slow if you do it while going backwards, I'd only use it forward and to the sides.

When you're alone with the red one, try not to go out of cover too much. Try to stay in cover... he can destroy most of the cover spots but he can't destroy the ones around the stairs (I don't know what they're called in english... it's those things that are usually on the sides when there are stairs and people slide their hands on them when they go up or down the stairs... they usually are either metal bars or made of wood...). I use one that's all the way to the left (from where you start the level) that doesn't have any of those things that hold weapons around because you can't use all 4 sides to cover on those ones.

Oh, by the way... when you're fighting both of them, the red one will spam his sniper rifle and that causes quite a bit of damage... you will hear a sound before he shoots it, try to move around when you hear it even if you're aiming at the blue one and can't see where the red one is... otherwise he could hit you. He also uses it (and every other attack only the blue one could use when both of them were alive) when he's alone, so pay attention to the sound. Also... you should go to the cover spot I told you about when he's about to use one of his "super attacks" (you know... the laser or the hundreds of lasers).

Try to never use more than half of the suit energy with the bullet time to shoot him, otherwise you wouldn't have enough time to recover your health and hide if he causes you enough damage.

If your suit overheats, try to see where the red bogey is and use the cover spot, if you see he's moving around to get you, just roll around the cover spot to get in a safe side of it. Never lose sight of him or you wouldn't know which side of the cover spot is safe.

Thank you sir, that's very practical advice and I'm going to hold it up for everyone to see.

Unfortunately I'm already doing all of that, I'm just not... quite... good enough yet.

Today or tomorrow, though. Today or tomorrow. After that I'm going to max out the rest of the achievements, and I will be satisfied just playing the campaign mode forever more.

Well... then I guess the only thing that's left is to keep trying. If you keep trying, you know you'll clear it some day... it's inevitable :P maybe because of pure luck, or because of your skills... or a little bit of both... but you know you'll make it. However, the moment you give up, is the moment you know you will never be able to clear it.

So... don't give up! :P

I did it! Woo!

Now just to shoot all the damn Pangloss statues and PUNCH ONE HUNDRED ROBOTS TO DEATH and I will have maxed out my cheevos. After that I will tackle God Hard.

I may never stop playing this game.

Cool article.

Khuutra, how much from a scale 0-100 would you give this game, roughly?

I would give it EXPLOSION/100.

Well, I maxed out achievements.

Most of the time I don't care about cheevos, but for games I really like I consider it a way to express my enjoyment of them. Vanquish is doubly nice in that it's also a very hard game whose cheevos are not particularly easy to get.

Now I need to beat the game on God Hard.
