Forums - Gaming - Infinity Ward co-developing Modern Warfare 3 with Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software

Joystiq

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare publisher Activision has repeatedly stated that Infinity Ward is doing fine since heads Vince Zampella and Jason West were ousted from the company early last year. A report on the LA Times' Company Town blog, however, tells a different story -- according to the piece, both Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software have been tasked with helping develop the next, still unannounced Modern Warfare title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

"People familiar with the situation" claim that Sledgehammer is working with the remaining staff at Infinity Ward on developing the game's single-player campaign, while Singularity developer Raven Software is in charge of bringing up the multiplayer side of things. The sources also contend that, like past Call of Duty titles, MW3 is expected to ship this November. Additionally, Sledgehammer is said to have halted production on its own spinoff Call of Duty title in order to help IW out. Representatives at Activision had yet to respond to a request for comment as of publishing.

Hopefully MW3 is actually a good game.  Sounds like they have a lot of unfamiliar faces working on it.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

lol when are people gonna stop buying this franchise ??

Activision is rehashing one of these every year, when is enough already !!

MW3 better have dedicated servers. I might not buy it if it doesn't.

Not sure what this means for the series. Obviously the leadership is gone and now we have a mix of 3 dev studios each bringing in different personnel and ideas. I know Raven did the Soldier of Fortune games, Quake 4 and the Jedi Knight/Outcast games. Not sure how well they'll be able to pull of multiplayer as their games are fairly mixed.

Not sure about Sledgehammer's games or acheivement though.

MW2 was alot better then MW1.  If you mean Call of Duty in General, the two I mentioned are the only  two I like.  Didn't like the others so didn't buy them.

mw3 is officialy shit! considering the talented infinity ward team released a crappy game called mw2, the combination of 3 crappy studios will release an worse game.

possible predictions about this game:

-1- unbalanced guns

-2- action pakced campaign with a crappy story

-3- instead of co-op the game will come automatically with all of the hacks

-4- more boosting.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good
