Forums - Nintendo - Virtual console handheld confirmed!

The Gameboy virtual console itself was expected/known about. What surprised me is that at least some games are being changed to having some 3D effects.

Those aren't Virtual Console releases, they're a new category "3D Classics" or "Classics in 3D" or something.  They're also all conversions of NES or SNES games so far.  Xevious was shown at the JP conference last week, it had more background layers than the NES port (or arcade original even) and no sprite flicker among other improvements, so they're not straight emulations like the VC.

What I really want is GBA support and then Mother 1 - 3 all localised for Europe.  I know it will never happen, but I can dream.

haha...this is pretty funny.

Here is the best virtual console handheld... http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/12/gameparks-gp2x-caanoo-handheld-hits-this-august-picks-up-where/

PSP is pretty good too.

Unless they add n64 and Wiiware support, I really dont care.

Link?

Bah! If Pokemon RBGYGSCRSE ain't there, this is worth nothing at all.

And I fear they will not be for it would slaughter the sales of Pokemon Gen V/VI games if Gen I/II/III are available for a fraction of the price on the same system.

Well I had a blonde moment and got caught up in posting all the newest news that It slipped my mind VC was confirmed at E3. I don't really need a link as it is common knowledge....aarrrgggg (I look really dumb) but the info came straight from Nintendo's press conference this morning no link required.

Ah, yeah, they might be under a special name when they've been redone for 3D, but as the link shows two games that are from the Game Boy and Game Boy color, not all are NES/SNES games so far. We'll see if they also release some VC style straight ports as well. Thanks for the info though. I hadn't caught the Xevious thing before.

It would be good if they modified the older gen Pokemon games to be able to use the wifi, as well as be able to connect up to some kind of online "repository" that would be compatible with all Pokemon games.

But yeah, really looking forward to the Zeldas (Link's Awakening and the Oracle games) as well as Mario Land 1-2 and Wario Land.

ummm we knew this ages ago lol
