Forums - Sony Discussion - Activision may close PlayStation Network Black Ops servers

Worst written article of the week? I think so. There is not even a small chance that activision cuts out ten million consumers.

That being said the hacking on ps3 is just now caught up to xbox and PC- on one game. Blaming Sony for the hacking of perhaps the least secure game ever is not really something they can do. This is merely more blustering nonsense from Activision.

I would strongly suggest for you to take off your Sony colored glasses...

Go for it! Such stupidity = More possible buyers for KZ3 :P

Omg imagine if all 9 million people went over to KZ3...I would be so happy! Do it activision!

Wishful thinking. More people will probably downgrade to MW2 before they find a completely different shooter to flock over to. Keep in mind that a huge majority of CoD's fanbase are casual non-gamers that wouldn't bother to put effort into any shooter that requires a decent amount of skill. Shutting down Black Op's servers will be HORRIBLE for the ps3's image. Among those masses of casuals are hardcore CoD fans that put tons of hours into the game. How do you think they'll react when all their work randomly goes to waste one day? If they were to shut down the servers long before the next CoD's release, i think a small decline in ps3 sales will be inevitable, along with CoD sales favoring the 360 even more.

If these "rumors" really are true, I'll just label the entire situation as completely f***ed up. I've played Black Ops for tons of hours, and plenty of friends have came over and also played it for tons of hours.....my connection has been fine pretty much every match. It's not perfect, but it's never once been bad enough to make me stop playing, nor has it come close.

I'd have to agree with you here.  I fail to understand where people say all of this supposed "lag" is coming from in Black Ops.  I have like 1 mb internet (which is not in any degree super fast), and stats load super fast, and games will on a rare occasion laggy and not switch hosts for a little while, but nothing to where I can no longer play the game.  Plus, this has nothing to do with activision servers, it has to do with the host's internet sucking it up, the same exact damned thing can happen on 360, and I'm sure it does.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

short answer: neither

just putting a worse case scenario out there. If they are willing to risk cutting of servers of 9million people I am sure they are willing to risk loss of 9 million others.

worst case scenario: Meteor collides with earth killing all life.

best case scenario: Jesus comes back

most likely scenario: Life continues as it always has and CoD keeps its multiplayer.

So full of win.

how is this helpful? unless you add something dont add anything. You and I have had a conversation on another thread. Respond to that.

So wait, are the hacks that were somewhat rare on MW2 now infiltrating the Black Ops version? I don't see them shutting the servers down, but becoming careless an just ignoring customers who bitch and moan would probably most likely occur. Well apparently, Sony was meant to resolve the whole "Wallhack, aimbot, deep penetration, explosive rounds, player derank, AC-130 crash, free killstreaks" bug on MW2, so I'll be interested to see how they're going to go about doing that.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

maybe a silly question, but can't they just well...patch the game?

or patch the game and reset the leaderboards or something?

exclusives will help the console maker (and from what I have seen) the better game as well, so no

And to your earlier comment, COD is what it is today cuz of it's MP, it's single player sucks monkey &$^$( (whih is regrettable, it used to be so much better)...so if they cut off one portion like that out of the game, it will still make them lose millions, so no I don't think they will be that stupid

If you read the whole of that you will find I was saying it was the worst possibility not the most likely possibility. Hence why I said that response as the much more likely one

be mature please, i was simply giving an on topic discussion. Because you see nothing but Sony positives you don't see this as realistic.

If you want to be honest about you can see this as a possibility. If the same thing happened to 360 I wouldn't be the only one suggesting this.
