Yeah, I've got 2 Six Axis controllers and I've hardly used one of them but the D-Pad is the same on both. I also own 2 Dual Shock 3's and compared them to the Six Axis. The D-pad is defiantly different.

I just checked the controller that came with my 60gb ps3 (sixaxis) against my white ds3 from japan and the texture on the dpad is identical..
